Great gadget.
I got this product for Christmas and I love it. It's lots of fun and very interesting. to use. It makes salt granules look like big ice cubes and my finger prints look like valleys in the desert. Now I can be my own Doctor,(Kidding). I can definitely see where this item can be a very useful tool for Doctors and Dermatologists. It's fantastic and your imagination is the limit. Go buy one, examine the tiny world that lives on leaves and in your backyard. Extremely versatile too.

Works brilliantly
Solidly built, and extremely easy to use. I downloaded and installed the software from the dino-lite website on my windows 10 laptop, plugged in the dino-lite and it started displaying images instantly. The focus/magnification control works well. With a slight adjustment of the focus control bright clear images were displayed on the laptop. The 640 x 480 resolution is plenty of pixels. Very happy with this little device. Highly recommended.

Good Workshop Tool, Too.
This is a good additional to my workshop as it allows inspection of parts and work that would otherwise be impossible. When sharpening knives with my Wicked Edge sharpener it allows close examination of the blade's edge while it is still mounted in the jig. This is a convenient, easy to set up and use device. The only thing I would change in my choice would be to have ordered one with a polarizing filter to cut reflection on metal surfaces (knives, watches, etc) in order to "see" more of what I am looking for. I recommend this to anyone needing to have a closer look at ... well, almost anything.

Poor for gemstones
1) No button on unit to take pics and/or start/stop video. Must do that from PC. 2) Impossible to adjust lighting beyond on/off. 3) Zoom quality poor for gemstones. Returned it.

Be a scientist!
Dino-Lite Digital Microscope (USB2.0) 10x~200x Magnification I order this product after returning a less expensive one that came with a mini-CD that won't work with Macs, and no opportunity to download driver from Mfg. If you enjoyed microscopes as a child, but endured the frustration of getting focus and light exactly right--this is for you. My grandchildren can hold the device, the LED lights are integral, and the focus adjusting is a one-handed affair. The images pop up in real time on the screen for all to see, and can be saved as robust PNG images (crisper than JPEG but just as easy to move around). We capture dead things, live things, you name it. Photos, videos, time-lapse. Expensive, but a never tiring tool to investigate anything. This was a great departure from the usual electronic gift, and has spawned interest from diamonds to worms!

Professional Review - higher price, poor quality features
I am a professional microscopist by trade....so take this review to the bank. Model AM311: price $150. LED illumination and lens quality are just fine, any lens aberrations are low at these magnifications to not be at issue. Big problem and design flaw: focus is not independently adjusted from magnification, for small object magnification limitation becomes physical distance. Proximity to lens is restricted by ridiculous fixed plastic tip...so not very close. Actual usable magnification is 7-9X at best when highest pixel dimension output is selected. Even cheap phones have megapixel cameras, how hard could it be to provide greater than 640X640 resolution? This is an overpriced non-variable magnification field stereoscope with 10 year old image capture tech. Worth about $40.

Great product, great price
I have 3 of these, one was damaged in a flooding incident! These are used for business purposes and pay for themselves in one photo! Great product, great price! Sam Garofalo Technical Consulting Associates; LLC

It basically has the power and resolution of a good dissecting scope for a little over 100 dollars
If you are a biology teacher this simple gadget is a MUST. It allows you to bring material to class and project the microscope's view directly onto the screen. You can see flowers and leaves, bacterial colonies in a Petri dish, moving soil fauna, insects, you name it. You can film video or take still images. Most importantly, it is a welcome novelty over the ever-more-boring Power-Point slides. It basically has the power and resolution of a good dissecting scope for a little over 100 dollars. I love it!

The good is it can take a full view of large coins. The bad is the horrible picture quality. The reviews and demonstrations are obviously with a much higher price point microscope. If you want quality photo's don't buy this. Used exclusively for coin photo's and very disappointed. Will be returning.
