Skinner has a alien technology phone in 1994 that can look stuff up! Cancer man is behind it obviously. :)
Its the X Files, need I say more. First story has Krycek in it *squee*. Okay that's over with. Second story was good, The one with Skinner as our main character in it(I believe I'm in story three, this is an anthology of stories, the book has already been stolen by my roommate whom is a bit testy when I try to take it back) its listed as 1994 as the year it takes place. Starts out great I just hit the part where Skinner does a search on his cellphone to research a phrase another agent that looks like she got hit by a city bus tells him. Granted I was 13 in 1994 but I do remember the cellphones. You could call on them. Camera phones would not be for a few more years and there was no internet on them. My brain is stuck on that part even though I'm really enjoying the story, noting that how far cellphone usage and the ability to look everything up in the last 15 years has made us think its been forever. I love the book so far. If you're a Die hard X-Phile from Day one(or a new one) you'll love this anthology. Read it. Now. Resist or Serve the almighty anthology.

Feels Amateurish
Though it is great to see Mulder and Scully back in action, this compilation of stories does them no justice. The stories are usually a mix-and-match of elements that have already been explored in the TV shows, so it felt lacking in creativity. Some bits of text seem to only have been included for nostalgia sake and feel out of place (such as dangling references to other characters of the show). Above all, the stories are usually too short, with no time for deeper mysteries or advanced investigation, while cases seem to solve themselves with very little intelligence applied by our favorite agents. I would say that the stories would on average make up a 20 minutes episode, as opposed to the regular 40 minutes. This book would still be OK if the writing was any good. We have many authors, but the quality is consistently low: we are often told how characters feel, as opposed to have us infer it by the text; situations and environments are described in a dry manner and are seldom moody. The writing is technically sound (it does the job), but lacks style and freshness.Lastly, the Kindle version of the book has mistyped words and will not format like other books. The final effect is that this book feels like a compilation of fanfic stories that are only mildly interesting and are quite inferior to their TV counterparts. Maybe its better to wait until early 2016, when the show is resurrected, if you crave to see Mulder and Scully perform once more. I will give credit to "Loving the Alien", which does not have any of the issues mentioned above.

Decent read but sometimes rough and amateurish...
Excited about the idea of an X-Files anthology I picked this up without paying the reviews much mind. I really should've. As some other reviewers point out the stories here are really hit or miss. There are some genuinely interesting ones and then there are some that feel incredibly amateurish and lack polishing. There are several grammatical and spelling errors throughout the stories. For example, in the story "Loving the Alien" there's a sentence that reads: "I about removing it to dump the water, but a slithering feeling across my calf changes my mind." Yikes! That pulled me out of the story and made me bust out laughing. Regardless, there are some good stories in here that really capture the feel of the series and it's characters. Hopefully the next book has a bit more work put into it and isn't rushed.

Must. Read. More. X-Files.
If you're an XFiles fan and haven't read this book yet, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? This is a book of 15 NEW XFiles stories, each by a different author (including Kevin Anderson, one of my favorite XFiles novelists). It's excellent. Most of these stories read just like a TV episode. The stories aren't in any particular order - most are set during the time frame of the television series, one is set before Scully joined the XFiles, and some are set later, so we get to see Mulder and Scully as a couple. My only criticism is (and we had this problem with many of the XFiles novels and comics) WHERE IS THE EDITOR?! *Sigh* The typos, and missing words, and verb tense confusion are distracting at times, but who am I to complain? WE FINALLY HAVE MORE XFILES STORIES!!!

Each story could be its own classic episode
This collection of short stories is great. Each story is so good it feels like they could be episodes from the show. From aliens and werewolves to alligator men and vampires, this collection does not disappoint (like the 2008 movie did). While there are a few typos here and there, those issues don't bother me too much since the storytelling is so gripping. I find these stand alone cases to be much more exciting than the season 10 comics (which tries too hard to create a new conspiracy but just leaves me scratching my head after every issue). The dialogue captures the tone of the main characters perfectly. I suggest this to any x-file fan who needs some new stories to hold them over while they wait for the show to come back in 2016.

Bad editing, worthwhile read
Editing. Editing. Editing. When the editor's introduction has typos, you know you're in trouble. There is an average of one error per page in this book. Missing words, flip-flopped tenses, characters whose names change, and out-and-out inconsistencies make this a sad, amateur effort undeserving of the X-Files license. Come on, people! This is the X-Files! Take it seriously.Despite that, and despite about one third of the stories being dull, meandering rubbish, I give this 3 stars because many of the authors truly do seem to "get" Mulder and Scully, and when you can settle in and hear their voices in your head, the read becomes a true joy.Looking forward to book 2.

Fun read
I'm only about 1/2 way through the book.I stumbled across this and decided to take a chance. The stories are enjoyable and do a good job staying in character with the original television series. I was an X-Files fan and these stories do a great job of rekindling atmosphere and feel of the series . So far I'm enjoying them quite a bit.

Fun stories that fans of the Xfiles would enjoy.
I really enjoyed the short stories. They span the 90s and 2000s. Especially liked the story with Skinner as the protagonist, gives you more character.

Trust No One
Trust No One, an anthology of original X-Files stories by various authors, is an enjoyable enough read (more X-Files is always welcome) but as other reviewers have commented, really needed better editing. The timelines are all over the place - one story references Duane Barry, yet is set in April 1994, when none of the Duane Barry stuff had yet happened. There are various instances of the wrong word being used (e.g "suggestive" instead of "suggestible"). And you do have to wonder at times if some of the authors have ever actually seen the X-Files (Mulder and Scully calling each other Fox and Dana.... really??). There is some good characterisation to be found, but some of it is definitely off.The stories are entertaining enough, in the main. "Dusk" is basically there to be a Twilight parody, fun in its own way if insubstantial. In another story - set in 1990 - Mulder has a Salvadorian wife named, oddly, Samanda. Obviously this is far from canonical, the only connection as far as I know being that David Duchovny wore a wedding ring in one "flashback" episode, sparking inevitable fan speculation. The take on it here is an unusual one, though, and at least he's not married to Diana Fowley. I'm not really sure they should have gone there, though. The same story does feature Arthur Dales, however... so that's nice. The vast majority of these stories are written by men, which is a bit annoying given that this is basically fanfiction, which as we know is mainly written by women - and there is some superb X-Files fanfiction out there. Overall I'm not convinced by the quality or credentials of some of the authors featured to be writing X-Files stories. Many seem to be writers of quantities of tie-in fiction for multiple TV and film franchises rather than people with a particular love for The X-Files, and sometimes Mulder and Scully seem shoehorned in to a story which has nothing intrinsically X-Files about it. But hey, maybe I'm just too precious about it. There is stuff here to enjoy and some of the stories are fun to read.(But I'm very impressed that Skinner, in 1994, has a phone capable of searching the internet! There's an X-file in itself.)

Very impressed!
I was a bit skeptical about buying this book because as far as I am aware, none of these authors had links to the show. However I was really impressed with the quality of the stories and it was clear to me that the authors were real X-Files fans and love the show as much as I do. Most of the stories are set in the early few seasons however a few are set in more recent years. The characterisation of Mulder and Scully and the dynamic between them was very believable and true to their characters. The majority of the stories revolve around our favourite duo, however the occasional story featured mainly Skinner and I found these to be more enjoyable than I anticipated. One such story involved Skinner looking back on his days in the army and I found it to be a very moving tale. Another standout story was 'Dusk' which very cleverly has parallels with the 'Twilight' phenomenon. Any X-Files fan should give this book a go. You won't be disappointed!

Really good
As a massive X-Files fan who every couple of years digs out the dvd to rewatch, I bought this book thinking it would be a bit tongue in cheek. Happy to report I was wrong, the stores are really good, you can tell the writers are fans of the show. They're good short stories, shame the next book in thr series is so expensive!
