Introduction to Derivatives and Risk Management

I can imagine this book is good if your professor follows it even slightly. It is written in easy-to-understand language IF you have any financial background, even just a few classes. My professor taught Derivatives very differently, but this was a good supplement.

A good introductory book. This particular edition was printed in India, but the content is identical to the hardcover U.S. version.UPDATE:I'm reviewing my Amazon reviews, and I reviewed this product only a few weeks after my purchase (because Amazon told me to!) While the book is NEARLY identical to the hardcover U.S. version, the numbered problems in the back of the book are not the same, e.g., if your professor assigns Chapter 5, numbers 1,5,7,15, etc., then the problems in this book will not line up. All of the problems are the same, down to the wording and everything, but they have been re-arranged.

What can I say. It's a textbook, so not overly thrilled to purchase it. It did, however, come new and fast as advertised.

Fast and Great

There are several reasons for my low rating so I'll start with the substantive issue first. I could not be more disappointed with the content of this book. The authors have succeeded in formalizing the mathematics of options with copious usage of inequalities but that's about where it stops. The book I used for my series 7 licensing had better explanations and examples on calculating max gain, loss, break evens, on spreads, hedging, etc than this did.Speaking of examples...I really had high hopes for some great, in-depth questions at the end of chapter that I could calculate and then check my....oh wait, there are ZERO answers at the end of the book unless you are looking for fluff answers to "conceptual" questions. I contrast this with the book that I used for ordinary differential equations, which contained the answers for EVERY end of chapter question.I am not a student, so I bought this book for self-study. I have more than enough intelligence to be able to do this but it added very little value beyond that of my series 7 licensing book.Before receiving it, I noticed that it had a $67 buyout option. Yet it arrived in very poor condition and very banged up. Additionally, this is more a legibility/eye-strain issue, but my copy is entirely in black and white, which doesn't make for the easiest reading.Finally, Appendix B-D are only available on the textbook companion site ONLY.What a joke.
