I love it! This is my 6th laminator in the past year and it definitely is a keeper! It is ugly, metal, industrial looking thing but it does a much better job than any scotch, purple cows, sovereign or fellows I killed in a matter of months. I have now owned it for about 3 months and it works great. I laminate every single day. It works perfect on dark colors, no other laminator is capable of laminating black or dark blue with the smooth glossy finish without any bubbles, but Akiles does it with ease! The only thing I wish it had is an extendable tray in the back. When your item comes out if you do not immediately take it out it will form a curve because there is no tray for it to rest on and as it cools it bends. I use feeding pouch every time too, it protects the laminator and ensures there are no scratches on the surface of my cards. Love the ability to control the temperature. You will find that even with, say, 5mil rating different brands have different thickness, so even though it says 5 mil in a carrier at 266F, I sometimes have to crank it up to 300F on thicker cardstock.Overall very pleased with my purchase so far :) Tried to take a close up of some dark colored images, but it is difficult.

My wife is a pre-school teacher and she says this is as good or better quality than the large professional one they use at work. It is well worth the money!

DO NOT BUY THIS!
I have bought this twice for work. The first one lasted almost 3 years, but the second only lasted a few months. It was still under warranty, and we had to pay ($27) to ship it back for repair. It was sent back without the power cord, which was sent a week or so later. It worked for about a week but smelled bad. Then it started overheating (the whole thing burning hot) and the chemical smell was horrible. Called the company and we were told, “It’s not really made for everyday use.”And that was the end, no refund, no further repair or replacement.DO NOT BUY THIS!

It works with 10 mil laminating pouches!
We needed something that would give good, clear results using a 10 mil pouch. Our first effort with a competitor's product did not work our well, but the Akiles Prolam produced exactly what we were looking for. I appreciate the variable temperature control that makes it possible to adjust and get the result you want.

good in a pinch
takes 5 minutes minimum to heat up, makes a load noise when turned on, does not get hot enough to melt pouches and usually has to be put through twice, it sounds like it is laboring when on, very noisy!still considering returning it, I think we might have a defective machine!

Perfect for three years.
I've been using this since i purchased from Amazon in 2016, but lately, it seems to overheat. There is a faint "hot rubber" smell. I confirmed the settings (and make sure the indent knob on the heat dial had not been pulled off and put back on in the wrong position) and laminated without issue, but it seemed to get too hot and the pouch (no change in pouches since 2016) looked and felt "melted."Today, i tried to laminate and the pouch is sticking to the top roller and wanting to bind up in the machine. I took the heat cover off to confirm this. I don't see any replacement parts. I'll check some other parts, but it seems like it might have hit its use-by date.
