Betta Success book
I've read most of this book, & it's to help me take care of our new betta fish. He's happy with his temporary home. His new tank is on its way. The book has one philosophy of fish care, & recommends not using tons of chemical algae cleaners, water clarifiers, etc. I bought a bunch of stuff for just that, which I will now return. I also bought an aquarium guide for starting an aquarium. I'm going the easiest, simplest route possible. I'm no chemical. I think I just thought that these products for fish aquariums would be safe & non-chemical, but they're not.

... That's the book I paid $10.00 for? CHEAP RIP OFF
Don't buy this. It may have worthwhile information in it, but you can find more quality information anywhere else, and the book is less than 30 pages long, not worth $10.00 by any means. It also looks like it was written in Microsoft Word by a fourth grader, with terrible formatting, off-color/bad quality photographs, and very limited information. Not peer reviewed or even spell checked. If you can get this for less than $.50; it still wouldn't be worth your time or money. Very disappointed. The quality of the information inside seems sound but nothing new and not in the quantity or quality that many other books in this category offer (Walt Maurus; A Complete Introduction to Bettas, Martin Brammah; The Betta Bible, Bettas, by Marshall Ostrow) but so limited in quality it is definitely not worth the price. Don't pay 10.00$ for this. I'll sell you mine if you really want this book.

Great information, but a little pricey for the kindle ...
Great information, but a little pricey for the kindle version, considering the length of the book. The author is the expert "fish guy" you wish you had access to at the local pet store. His knowledge of betta fish is spot on. I wish that he had gotten into more detail on fishless cycling. Otherwise, a great reference book for betta owners and a good review on diseases and treatments.

IDENTIFY ALL SELF-PUBLISHED BOOKS IMMEDIATELY: the two I have encountered so far are terrible. Readers, beware. Check!
Nearly ten dollars for a self-published book--self-published obviously meaning with "no editing for errors" since the sparse number of pages in this book are sprinkled with mistakes that frequently make sentences incomprehensible--I was disgusted and embarrassed that Amazon had even offered it for sale! How can I recognize errors? I taught college English composition and literature for 35 years. I still assist students for twenty hours a week with papers in all subjects. If any Amazon employees look at this, I beg them to put "Self-Published" in big, bold, colored letters beside any such book title when it first appears.

Betta Help
Glad I found this book, it helped me diagnose my Betta's illness - dropsy. I used some of the info in this book and Gizmo hung on for three additional weeks, but eventually he passed away, he was a few months shy of his third birthday. I will use this book as reference if I buy another Betta. It's a little too soon right now.

Very little information
This is a pamphlet, not a book, with little information of any value that you wouldn't get with a quick Google. It's sloppily edited, the captions don't follow the photos properly, and pages are half blank. There are very very few pages that have any Betta specific information. Certainly not worth the price, and I made a mistake buying it. I'm actually confused as to why this was given good ratings at all.

Splendid Bettas
This is a simple but excellent treatment of keeping happy Bettas. I have kept tropical for 65 years. My current betta tank is 2.5 gal divided in two with heat and filtration and most successful.

Let the buyer beware...
As a newcomer to the world of Betta Splendens, I sought an informative book dedicated to their welfare. Taken in with the three 5-star reviews here, I was sure I was on to a winner with this fairly cheap little purchase.Sadly, this is was not the case. Despite having a table of context, there are no page numbers anywhere in this publication. The layout is terrible, often with section titles on one page and the article it refers to on another. Images are not clearly numbered or titled and are often arranged in a haphazard way. Latin names of species are not always italicized. Another reviewer here noted the author’s ‘quirky writing style’. What this actually means is the grammar, language and sentence structures used throughout are absolutely appalling and painful to read, making trawling through this book a laborious chore.Though this may be overly critical, I suspect that this work was never intended to be physically published. The book itself has no publication date and was apparently printed by Amazon.co.uk. This leads me to believe that ‘Betta Success’ may have began life as an online blog or web-page and has been ‘adapted’ by Amazon for retail sale. This would account for the extremely informal tone, the use of hyperlinks within the body of the text and explain the overall poor layout. This is unfortunate because, with a bit of proof-reading and a more professional finish, this booklet could have been a real gem. That being said, Mr Fenner is obviously very passionate about his subject and clearly knows a great deal about the care of Betta Splendens, and it is a shame those details tend to get lost in the grammatical melee. Despite being written with an American frame of mind (Fahrenheit and gallons), much of the information within is universal, and may suit the general reader keen to avoid anything too academic. However, you may be better off doing your research online for free...(Italics and/or underlining may not show up in this review due to web-page specifics)

The missing chapters were actually the ones I bought the book for - so it was a complete waste of money
What there was by way of this book was quite informative - but sadly the publication is a complete mess.I can only agree with the other reviewer on here and say don't buy it!The book ended without the last few chapters making it one of the shortest books I have ever read with only half a book full of information. The missing chapters were actually the ones I bought the book for - so it was a complete waste of money.
