Pleasure to use
First of all - this knife is great and perfectly fit the purpose. I would buy it again. Now, let's describe what it is, and what it isn't.It's a Chinese knife, not Japanese. Steel looks somewhat like Damascus, but it's not. Not that it matters for a bread knife. But it looks beautiful, so who cares? It's heavy, and that is good - it allows the knife to get into bread using its own weight. I am using it for freshly baked bread - still warm and therefore fragile. Being sharp and heavy, this knife gets through gentle fresh bread perfectly, leaving no lumps, the cut is ideally straight and flawless. It's very sharp. Usually bread knives are safe to touch, but this one is a real blade, so don't.It's not ideally straight, though. It happens sometimes with kitchen knives - the blade is pointing a bit to the right side from the handle, maybe 5 degrees or so. Not a problem whatsoever, but for this price and looks, it feels like a flaw. Laughable, taking into account it's a bread knife, but still. So yes, it's expensive, but it's something you'll be using for many years, so why not to surround yourself with beauty?

Beautiful, well-balanced, incredibly sharp
I did wonder whether I really needed to pay nearly 35 quid for a bread knife, just because it was a thing of beauty, when I could have had a perfectly serviceable one for a fraction of the price. I'm very pleased I did, though; this knife is magnificent. Not only is it beautiful, reassuringly heavy, and really well-balanced, it's phenomenally sharp. I cut myself on it within a couple of minutes of getting it out of the box. As well as bread, I've used it to cut through frozen chicken's feet (for the dogs) and it was effortless. Would make a superb present.

Stunning high quality bread knife
This is a stunning knife. I love the quality of the whole thing. Both the weight of the knife and the shimmer of the blade give it a really great look. It cuts beautifully, really sharp for crusty bread, and sits really comfortably in the hand. I haven’t bought a high quality knife before and am definitely a convert! Also it comes in a lovely presentation box so will make a great gift.

Exceptional knife
Had been looking for a decent bread knife for a very long time. I had purchased several that were cheaper but they just didn't do the job. This slices through crusty bread with no effort at all and can also slice very soft bread. No tearing and it makes it so easy to slice thinner slices. Would recommend to anyone looking for a really good, really sharp bread knife that is also very decorative. I have been so impressed with the Damascus steel that I am now looking to replace other kitchen knives with something similar.

Does the job
Can't tell if this is what it says or just laser engraved im guessing the price probably not but it does the job and looks nice.

This is a beautiful looking knife
I am hosting a big family party and wanted a good looking bread knife to leave out on a board for people to cut their own bread. My husband, a retired butcher (only mentioned because he understands knives), reminded me that we bought another beautifully crafted knife from the same company and that if possible I should use them again. I searched them out and found that by chance they have just added a bread knife to their range. (I'm assuming just added as there are no reviews which would be out of the question for such a "stand out" product.)It has only just arrived so I can't rate it for longevity but it looks and feels like it will outlast me! It really is stunning and it's worth adding that the damascus process makes it look beautifully engraved which although shown on the website doesn't really do it full justice.. I should add that it cuts wonderfully too!

Not all it's cracked up to be - but it does look good.
I'm not sure if this really is a Damascus steel knife or not - the pattern seems far too contrived. As for sharpness, it's not as sharp as I'd expected. It didn't cope well with fresh-baked bread that had cooled for two hours and had a crispy crust - the blade just wanted to slide off. I don't have this difficulty with my Gustav Emil Ern serrated knife. Even on softer bread it's not impressive, and it seemed to tear at an orange when I sliced it. Again, my Gustav knife is so much better, but it costs very much more than this one.Having said all that, it is a very nice looking knife, so I'm going to keep it. I'll just use it in things I know it will cope with.

Not very useful for bread
The knife looks very pretty, is balanced really well and handles well, but it's absolutely terrible for cutting bread, especially if the bread is soft. It often ends up squashing the bread before it cuts it and seems no better at cutting bread than your average bread knife.
