Love this refill & color!
Overall, I love this pen. I got a blue and this grey refill. My original came with black which I don't use. It writes very smoothly and so far it seems to pair well with my Sharpie Clearview High Lighters, as in no smearing, although you do need to give a little drying time before high-lighting. For some reason, the blue wanted to smear a little, but overall these are great!Go buy some - you'll be sure to like writing with them too!Zig just makes all kinds of great writing instruments! Good quality, long-lasting.

Small compact and good line control.
Took some getting used to but these have become my go to fine line work pen. Thick lines with either Copic Gasenfude or Pentel Pocket brush, then this one for detail. It handles alcohol marker over it without issue and give a little more line weight flexibility than a micron or copic liner. You do want to be careful with storing them, I've found if you store them nib up for extended periods of time they seems to dry out some and can lose flow. Their small distinctive size/shape is also to my liking, though I could see how others might not like it.

Love my Kuretake Pen Refills
I am a penofile. The replacement ink for Kuretake pens adds life to a pen sleeve that is trained and sculpted to my hand. All the scratches and fading on my pen sleeve are important keepsakes to me because these pen refills are workers. When you use these refills--or even just the original pen you will need to prime each side of the pen. By that I mean, don't just work on one side of the pen. Rotate them on all sides so that the ink will flow on all sides of the pen. The only thing you have to worry about is leaving the cap off. Enjoy your pen!

Closest you can get to a real calligraphy pen.
This pen is the probably the closest I could get to faking a real calligraphy pen. It creates beautiful thin strokes as well as lovely thick downstrokes. The only downfall is that... (and this was my mistake) I believed that I could use this pen without the outer casing. When the pen arrived, it came with a cap. And so, I thought I could use it without it's outer shell. Well, within 2 weeks, it dried out. So if you do get this, definitely get the outer shell!!!

I like these pens
I like these pens, they write really well, and are nice to use. I do not have the holder for them, just using the refills, and feel in the hand is a bit small for my taste without the holder for them, but this is my fault as I didn't want to pay for the holder. The tip is very fine point, and the writing from it is unique. I'm not using these for Japanese writing, I bought because I like different and unique writing instruments and wanted to see how well it worked as a normal pen. The ink is dark black, and doesn't soak through normal writing paper, which is nice. The tip is firm but has a bit of flex to it to give you nice stroke control when writing.I subtracted 1-star because the only downside of these that I have found is the inkflow between uses. It doesn't leak (which I was worried about), but it does dry out fast between uses. The pen isn't ruined, it just stops flowing ink and needs to be shaken or scribbled with for a bit to get the ink flowing again. This will happen within an hour or so if you leave the cap off (like when setting it down between writing notes). And also when the cap is on and I have it standing vertically in a cup holder. The pen is nice, but it's not always "ready to go" when you need to jot down a quick note. Granted, I realize this isn't a general purpose pen, but regardless, any pen should be ready to use and have good ink flow when used.I still bought another one just because I liked it so much and it's unique. I just don't use it as often as I'd wish because of the ink issue. Once you get writing with it, the ink flow seems to be fine, and works great, so it's not that it doesn't write well once you get the ink working again, it seems to get a dry tip very quickly and easily between uses. Not a total deal-breaker in my opinion, but can be aggravating if this is the only pen you have handy and you have to dry-write with it for a couple minutes to get the ink going again before it works normal.

Love these pens and refills
Love these pens and refills. Also a number of people who borrow it to sign something or write something comment how nice it writes. One thing I find is when it is new and I am just starting to use it I need to do little ovals or squiggly lines to get the ink properly flowing--but once it starts it is super cool to write with!

My original nib was a fine brush - which was good for different purposes
The nib on this refill is different than I'd original had in my Cocoiro pen... My original nib was a fine brush - which was good for different purposes, but a little difficult for lettering (for me, anyway). This nib is shorter and more firm, like a fude-type pen. The nib is flexible, allowing varying width in your strokes, depending on the amount of pressure you apply. I also found the nib to be much better in flexibility if I hold the pen at a slight angle in my hand, rather than straight-on.And, one of the best features of the Cocoiro pen and refills is the ability to easily change out different refills in the holder, for quickly accessing different ink colors and nib styles (like the brush vs. fude I described, above)! I'm very, very pleased with this pen!
