Outstanding smaller Dutch oven
Works very well for one pot meals or sauces, and also for baking bread. Caramelizes onions very nicely, too. I had the 7.5QT version of this first and use it extensively, but this smaller one is really good for simmering large batches of sauce, refried beans, curry dishes, or baking a normal sized loaf of bread. Great design and craftsmanship, easy to clean, retains heat, and is just generally an excellent piece of cookware.

Great deal. Both form and function.
After 4 months of use, I highly recommend this Dutch oven. It's a great deal, especially compared to the massive cost of some enameled cast iron Dutch ovens. I have the hombre red. It's gorgeous and cooks perfectly. I find bringing liquid to a boil goes quickly with the excellent heat retention. 5 stars.

Braises Wonderfully!
I've had this Dutch oven less than a month and already I've cooked several dishes with it. All have been fabulous. Now, I'm wondering how I've done without a pot like this all of my life? This Lodge 4.5 Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid and Dual Handles is professional grade and just the right size for our needs (there are only two of us in our household). I brown* my ingredients with it on the stovetop in prep for braising while the oven preheats to 310 degrees F. Then I bring the braise up to a boil, put on the Dutch oven lid, and slide it into the preheated oven. The pot simmers perfectly for hours at a time or however long I need it to with only a check after a half hour to see how the simmer level is doing. And Voila! the results are astounding. We love the color of our Dutch oven too (solid red) so much that we display it on our dining room table when it's not on the stove. I can't see how any of the fancy (and expensive) French brands can perform any better than this beautiful, American made, Lodge pot does.*Note: For sautéing ingredients, I use a different skillet so not to damage the enamel finish. The pot is only to be heated to temperatures under 500˚ F; therefore high-temperature sautéing is likely to damage the pot's enamel glaze. I also hand wash my Dutch oven immediately after using it. So far this has worked great in keeping its appearance, inside and out, beautiful.

Great Value
This pot is almost identical to Le Creuset which would cost you over $200. It cooks beautifully, cleans beautifully and looks beautiful. I highly recommend this pot. I have not had any issues with scratches or chips and am careful to handle it as recommended. I only wish it was completely made in the USA. But at this price, it's a bargain and great value for an excellent cooking vessel.

Beautiful and a great value!
I had old Copco enamel Dutch Ovens (I inherited them from my mom, and she probably bought them in the 1960s!) I noticed some chipping and knew it was time to start replacing them. After much research, I felt comfortable ordering the Lodge Dutch oven because there is no exposed cast iron parts, no need to "season" it, and it cleans easily. This enamelware is absolutely lovely, it is true to the picture. It is easy to clean and includes an information pamphlet that really explains the features, use and care of it.Needless to say, this is great quality for far less than other brands!!!

It served us well for 10 years
This has been a great cooking pot, for soups, Indian dishes, porridge. When it was 10 years old, the finish started chipping on the bottom, so I threw it away and bought a new one. No, I never used metal utensils on it. The comparable item from La Creuset costs about 5 times the price of this one, and probably weighs more, so this is is a better deal, right?

Fantastic product from a reputable company
I now have two dutch ovens from Lodge because of the qualities of their products. I got the basic cast iron pan first, and liked it so much I decided to get a ceramic one to try. They are both awesome!!! The ceramic one is a little easier on the clean up, but not by a lot. Great quality for the price. Will definitely by another in the future.

Lasting, durable and heavy duty
It's beautiful in color and shiny. I've used the Lodge dutch oven at least a dozen times, and the inside and outside has stayed brand new looking. It has not chipped. I love cooking in it. Food slightly sticks, but only when sauteing meat or veggies, but its expected with this type of dutch oven, plus that is where all the flavor is! I'm very happy with my purchase! It is every thing I wanted in a dutch oven. You will love it!
