The Science of Self-Learning: How to Teach Yourself Anything, Learn More in Less Time, and Direct Your Own Education (Learning how to Learn)

I read this on a recent voyage and came home wanting to implement all strategies in my learning. The strategies outlined in the book have improved my note-taking significantly, and increased my reading speed and comprehension when studying. I am excited to work much faster now with these tools and techniques.

This was a very well written and organized book about self-learning. it pointed out several methods one can use to help one learn most subjects. However, the book could have used a bibliography. Also, while the summary of the chapters was good, it repeated the call for requesting a book review. No problem with this, but it appears the author just copied the paragraph from a paragraph written earlier in a section of the summaries without editing the tenses of the words. Personally, he only needed to mention this once and it would have avoided being redundant. However, overall I was pleased with the book. Most of the information was not new, but how he presented the material and its organization makes it for a good reference to have, especially for those wanting methods and strategies for how to teach yourself new material. Well, Pete, I hope this feedback helps you enhance your writing, which you love.

I already knew many of the topics covered in this book having read the original source materials myself. Having said that, if I were to recommend one book on self learning, I think that would be it. It was well written, easy to follow and provided pragmatic examples to implement the concepts. What more could a person ask for?

I was able to review my great deal of data that I had. been exposed to early in life. The way the book was organized helped in this reorientation. A good read.

A well written and segmented treatise on how to go about teaching one's self. It gave the how, the why, and the challenges. Ultimately this book cannot make you help yourself, but in as concise a fashion possible it can guide you on being able to do so. Highly recommend.

The information in this book from my personal perspective and opinion seem like missing more details about the subjects and highlights to keep the learning in a more beneficial way.

This is a decent read but I’ve heard many of these things before

It is laid out in simple terms various different methods and examples on how to self learn. Thankfully it wasn't filled with fluff and unnecessary information. It kept it simple and to the point.

Long story short, this book will give you techniques for self-learning as well as reinforce what you've been thinking: traditional learning by going to school, getting a degree, waiting and thrusting someone to teach you is limited, boring and superficial.Self-learning is hard. Requires a goal, plan, discipline and the use of the right techniques and mindset to keep you on the right track.Loved it.

I m somebody who has struggled with self learning... the tools and techniques mentioned in the book really helps a lot in improving the journey of self learning...Trust me it works.Must buy book... highly recommend it.

Finally, a book that places more emphasis on the reader than the author. A book of frameworks, tools and perspectives to consider. A book that credits the reader with the capacity to devise a unique personal formula. A book for everyone.

Too many books out there but not all got a solid structure explaining why you should work a certain way. It is most of the time an advice on trying different methods and to see what could eventually work. In this book the explication is simple, you can even experience as you read, everything is detailed, straight to the point and explained in plain English. Looking forward to read other books by the same author.
