Very easy to install, nice upgrade for my Maxx!

My stock ESC died after less than 3 months. So I bought one here, it was dead on arrival. However, because of some lazy business practices, I now have to return the product I bought here to the manufacturer. The attitude of “if you have a problem go to someone else. Don’t like it? Go somewhere else” is really, incredibly, unprofessional. But that’s essentially what the policy is with this vendor. “We sell stuff but take no responsibility for what we sell” is a trash policy. You should be ashamed.

This esc died just as the original one. I have no clue why though. Will be installing an 8s esc with the 6s motor to see if it fixes the problem.

Traxxas ESCs are the absolute worst electronics I’ve ever encountered, both in an RC vehicle and out.In June of this year, 2021, I purchased two E-REVO 2.0 6S 1:8 RC trucks, which come with this ESC and motor combo from Traxxas, and one X-MAXX 8S 1:5 RC truck, which comes with the similar 8S ESC and lower Kv motor. Within the first 3 months I had to send both of the E-REVO 2.0 VXL-6S ESCs, one of the E-REVO 2.0 motors, the X-MAXX VXL-8S ESC, and my Traxxas EZ-PEAK Live Dual iD 26 amp/200 watt charger back to Traxxas (on my dime, not theirs) for warranty replacement. Each time one of the components just completely died and ceased to function at all the RC was down and could not be used for at least 2 weeks and in some instances a month.You’ll read Traxxas fans state how amazing their warranty is and that they are great about replacing things, even outside of the warranty. What you don’t read (because they fail to mention it) is that you’ll need the warranty to be great because you’ll be in contact with them many times during the course of your ownership of their components and RC RTR vehicles.At this very moment I am returning the X-MAXX motor for warranty replacement. Suddenly the shaft no longer turns while the motor is given some juice. That motor is from the same distributor that the motor in this listing is from.Each time one of the Traxxas ESCs or motors died I sent it back and immediately purchased a different brand of ESC or motor to be installed back into my RC vehicles. The Traxxas components that were sent back to me are still in the plastic packaging and will be listed for sale soon. I replaced this particular VXL-6S ESC and motor with the Spektrum 150A ESC and motor combo and haven’t had any problems at all.But wait, I’ve yet to inform you about the performance of this ESC and motor when it IS working. Well, prepare to be underwhelmed. The Traxxas ESC here isn’t configurable in the slightest. The BEC in this unit puts out an underpowered 6.0V constant and that’s all you get. Today’s servos all run best at 7.4V and high voltage servos run at 8.4V. So if you put a stronger metal gear servo in your RC to replace the garbage Traxxas one with plastic gears, it’ll run at a fraction of its potential because it’s so underpowered by the ESC. Oh, and want to be able to turn your ESC off with the button? Nope, while you turn it on with the button on the ESC you can’t use that same button to turn it off and actually have to unplug the connectors to the LiPo batteries. On top of all this, the ESC doesn’t put out nearly as much power as it’s cheaper and better competitors. The ESC build quality is seriously lacking. It feels flimsy, the fan cover is thin and not well secured, and the small holes for the fan are tiny and cause the ESC to run at higher temps that similar ESCs from other brands.You’re so much better off getting an ESC and motor from Hobbywing or Spektrum and can order either of them here on Amazon for quite a large percentage cheaper and a ton more reliability and power. Using either of them instead of the OE Traxxas components is super easy. Installation is as easy as it gets so if you were able to remove your Traxxas ESC and motor, you can easily install a true upgrade ESC and motor from another brand. If you really want to overdo it and get the best ESC and motor combo, look into the Castle Creations models sold here on Amazon as well. They are pricey but it’s amazing what they have accomplished in terms of technology, build quality, and speed.

I’ve had nothing but trouble trying to calibrate this ESC with my controller. I finally got fed up and called Traxxas for help. They said their engineers knew about the issue but did not have a solution. So I installed another Brand that plays nice with others.

These esc’s are garbage.. replace with castle.. very disappointed in traxxas for this set up.. disappointed in the erevo 2.0...corally kronose smashes on it right out of the box for half the price..I got straight embarrassed with a side by side bash.... literally clowned on and I was running 6’s and they were running 4’s and we had two erevos and both have upgrades and both got stomped.. no two ways around it

They both failed within less than one month of ownership. I don't know why so many people buy these electronics as an upgrade. They suck. DO NOT BUY!!! There are better esc and motor combo's out there for the same price or less like the hobbywing max 8 2200 kv motor combo.
