Neat little scope!
I bought this piece for looking at vistas, hiking, and casual spotting at the rifle range. The scope is compact (it can fit normally in your jeans pocket), and lighter than I expected. The frame is made of a hard rubber-like substance, but doesn't look cheap and seems robust to drops and bumps. Perfect for my type of heavy use. The frame cleverly extends a bit past the lens surfaces to make damage to the lenses pretty difficult. The lenses themselves seem to be pretty good for the price and lack noticeable aberration. The action of the focus is smooth and very precise; this combined with the quality of the lenses allows for a very sharp and pleasing depth of field in the image. The level of magnification (7X) is great for noticing detail in object you can notice with the naked eye. It seems like the amount of hand jitter introduced in a small scope like this would make higher levels of magnification very difficult to use. If you are looking at far-off objects (more than a mile or so away) it helps to brace your arm against a fence or wall.Overall, this is great for the casual aficionado of the outdoors. I'm keeping this in my backpack so I can always be prepared for the vista!

No wonder Jack Bauer uses this!
I admit I really picked this model and brand because it is the same model as the one Jack Bauer uses on 24. Well I didn't use it to stop any terrorists, nor save the US in an epic way, but for my uses this thing is great. It's small enough to always slip into a pocket or a back pack, and the focus is crisp and clear. At night, the monocular is a little dim, it's simply too small to allow much light in. For simplicity, ease of use and quality of optics, I give this 4 stars out of 5. Great price too!

Wanted to love but not durable at all.
I wanted to love this scope for the price and the portability but the lack of durability and inability to fix it make it quite the expense. I have purchased this scope four times. Ignoring two (lost in the woods, gift for a friend), both of the others have broken on me. The first was dropped once from about two feet, which knocked an internal lens sideways. Since you cannot access the interior, it could not be repaired. I got a second and it had a slight rattle but worked fine until when focusing one day, something inside made a cracking noise and everything went black. Customer service is nonexistent: I reached out to the company on their email and have not heard back in a month. I would not recommend this scope.

This is a Great Monocular!!
Shipping was fast for the Brunton Echo 7x18 Pocket Scope Monocular. It was packaged in a bubble mailer in it's carrying pouch with a wrists trap and cleaning cloth. It is lightweight and easy to use. I use it to view menus in fast food restaurants, screens for powerpoint presentations, even pages as close as 18* away (unlike my "other" more expensive binoculars) I have low vision and visual aids such as these are a staple in my arinal of looking equipment!! To have something so reasonably priced with such simple yet necessary features is a big plus for me!! I am puzzled about why there are different prices for each color of the same product!! I would have liked purchasing a light blue or spring green for the same price as the black one! I'd purchase this again and would highly recommend it!!

Good for the price
This is an excellent carry along item when you go for a walk or a hike. Its small size fits in your coat pocket (or hand) and it is easy to focus on close up objects as well as far away objects. It is also convenient to have in the car, when drive up to a sign that is just far enough away that you can't quite read the information. You can focus in on the written information and read it. My brother used my Brunton and he has had trouble getting binoculars to focus together, but with the single lens Brunton he was able to use it with ease. It is not an expensive piece of equipment, but it is very useful for spotting wildlife, using at the ball game, or just trying see an object in a museum up close. When I went to Europe, I took my Brunton along and when I wanted to get a real close look at the statue of David or other artwork it was well worth having along.

It was great, until it broke.
I bought this monocular to get a better view of the performers at operas and orchestral performances. I liked the size - very convenient and unobtrusive, it fit easily into an evening bag - and if the quality wasn't quite Zeiss, well, life is a series of trade-offs: it was good enough, and the price tag made up for any shortcomings.I'd used it perhaps ten times, handling it carefully, keeping it in its case, and putting it away in a drawer when I wasn't using it. And then, on the eleventh time, I took it out of its case and tried to focus on the pianist, only to discover that it was broken - just like that. Something on the inside gave way, covering the lens completely. It hadn't been dropped or banged or even spoken to harshly; it just quit.Naturally, it committed suicide after the window for making a return.A monocular is a great thing to have, whether you're birding, shooting, or opera-going. But learn from my mistake. Spend a little extra money, and get one that will hold up for more than a couple of months.

Great for the price, weight, size and optics
A friend of mine has had one of these for years. We both carry a monocular with us on our hikes. I always appreciated his light weight small device. Mine although more powerful is about 50% heavier. He purchased his from a major recreational equipment store, for almost 10 dollars more than Amazon. I finally broke down and purchased this item. For the price, size, weight, optics and the ability to focus down to 13 inches (a tad farther in reality) will worth the price. Some may find that it takes two hands to focus a problem, I don't but that is just me.
