Very easy to replace!

Bought and installed in April 2018. In july it started to beep sometimes without smoke. Last week it started to beep at 330 am but it somehow went off after a couple of frantic button presses ( had to get a step ladder to get to it, half asleep) . This evening when we got home it was screeching continuously - and nothing would turn it off , until we ripped the sticker and turned the screw ( which makes it un usable after that). We didnt trust that would shut it off permanently so we threw it in the garbage far away from our home to make sure it didnt start up again in the middle of the night like those severed rattler heads that still bite ...Lasted in total all of around 4 months out of supposedly 10 year life . Real poor design ( false alarms galore , have to unscrew it , turn it upside down then tear a sticker and turn a screw with a tool to turn it off while its screeching unrelenting with no smoke whatsoever , and then its useless once you do that- go figure ! )

Awesome product replaced OEM Alarm

Great product especially as it doesn't require changing batteries all the time. Easy to install but if you are hoping to just replace in the bracket you may already have installed that was for a different brand detector, you will need to remove the old one as this product didn't fit the existing brackets we had.

This smoke detector is a great value. When the Fire Marshall told us that all (80) of our 9v battery operated 5yr smoke detectors needed to be replaced with a 10yr lithium battery smoke detector we cringed at the expense. Luckily we found these. Locally they are twice as expensive so we found it to be a great value and they were easy to install. Can't rate the battery life as we just installed them.

I would give this product a zero if I could. I installed this smoke detector on 5/1/17 and at 3:00 AM on 7/5/19 it went off. Absolutely no smoke anywhere near the unit or anywhere in my home. It wouldn't turn off. I buried it between two pillows but that didn't do any good. It continued to beep. After about 10 minutes of trying to get it to shut up, I had enough. To turn off you have to scratch off the label and turn to off with a screwdriver. Once you do that the unit won't work anymore. I saved time and did what should be done to every one of these, I smashed it. You can believe all of the other negative reviews. Kidde should be ashamed of this piece of junk and Amazon should be ashamed to sell it. This product would be overrated if the overall rating was one star.
