Gerber 30-000598 Combat Fixed Blade, Tanto Knife, Black

The seller had this thing on my doorstep 4 days earlier than expected, and the knife is pretty rad. Its fairly light and the blade is not to thick, but its really meant to be a combat knife and nothing else. Sheath is a major step up from the Gerber Prodigy series.

The knife is awesome. The sheath has a lot of flexibility for carry options but I can't seem to find a great way to make it work for an EDC, yet.

Can't say enough about this med size 154CM knife. Price is the best I have seen for this quality.

Was looking for a knife with survival-camping qualities but not heavy, bulky or big. This knife does the trick. 154CM steel (marked on blade) black coated with a dense but thin rubber handle screwed to the tang (full tang). Blade length is 4.5 inches. Handle is 4.625 inches. Comes with a plastic sheath which fully encloses the blade then velcro straps that secure the plastic sheath to the scabbard. The plastic sheath is removable if you strip out the velcro straps. The scabbard is big and bulky and would require wearing a belt. I want something I can clip to a pair of shorts and/or tie around a tree or my neck. Removed the plastic sheath and screwed-attached a clip (drilled holes in cellphone-case-clip...sheath has various slots that matched perfectly for the clip). Knife came with about 20inches of paracord for lashing to your leg when you wear the scabbard. Found some instructions online for tying paracord knots and made a lanyard and cinch. The knife arrived with no instructions or manual. The scabbard has several different possible configurations so it would have been nice to see instructions how they best suggested mounting. Would have LOVED it if they would have made scabbard/sheath that can clip/mount to your shorts, pocket, etc.

Some odd snaps on the sheath that are very hard to negotiate. Flimsy material. Other than that, nice blade.

You can never have enough knives, and this is a great all purpose.

I bought this specifically because it is made of 154cm steel, and I have never had a tanto point knife before and wanted to get familiar.What I didn't know is that this is an "Americanized" tanto blade in the regard that the cutting edges are completely straight - traditional Japanese tantos are slightly curved. This does make a big difference. It also means that I don't know how to sharpen it and am going to have to go through a learning process on that one.Other than that, it was razor sharp out of the box, and the sheath is the most robust and versatile for mounting of any knife I own. For the price I am glad I got it.

Coltello con ottima ergonomia, finiture e materiali di alto livello. Le dimensioni ed il peso sono inferiori a quelle di un tradizionale coltello da survival, ed in effetti il prodotto non nasce e non viene proposto per quello. Posto che non è da acquistare per lavori od impieghi gravosi, il coltello soddisfa pienamente chi intenda dotarsi di un prodotto di qualità, versatile e di facile portabilità (il fodero è molto ben realizzato).Non è molto importante, ma vista la fascia di prezzo del prodotto ritengo veramente misera la confezione (semplice custodia di cartone leggero).

Coltello "tattico", ormai questo termine abbonda nelle bocche peggio del riso..Personalmente, preferisco saltare il nome tacticool e soffermarmi sulla lama.Che dire, è fina, zio cannone 3.5mm di spessore full tang... MA nonostante questo, devo dire che ha soddisfatto al 100% le mie aspettative!L'ergonomia della lama è buona, si vede che c'è un ottimo lavoro di design alle sue spalle, le geometrie son ben studiate e senza ombra di dubbio la sottigliezza del coltello lo rende un eccellente utility di backup, per altro il tutto supportato dal buon acciaio sinterizzato 154cm, non il top, ma senza ombra di dubbio con specifiche degne di nota.Un altro punto a favore lo da il fodero, completo e carino, la struttura in materiale plastico si può staccare, dispone di passanti per appenderlo dove si vuole e la struttura in cordura è adeguatamente solida e completa: passanti per cintura, attacco MOLLE posteriore, un sistema di aggancio al fodero in plastica adeguato.In linea di massima il coltello p rifinito benone, anche se si notano varie imperfezioni, in primis sul fodero in cordura, che non è il massimo del rifinito.Il sistema di aggancio del coltello invece mi ha sorpreso, bello solido.Quindi che dire, complessivamente straconsigliato, per i lavori leggeri, che comprendono anche un chopping moderato, difficile trovare di meglio a questo prezzo, soprattutto se consideriamo materiale della lama e versatilità della stessa.Le 4 stelle vengono date per i difetti, abbastanza intollerabili su un prodotto che, a listino, stava sui 150.
