Immensely Strong - Small Hooks
What I Like:-The cams (cranking mechanism) on these ratchet tie downs are wonderful - large and easier to use than similar products I own, padded with soft rubber, and easy to thread-Extremely strong, as everyone else will tell you, with great levering pressure-Webbing is fray-resistant and difficult to cut-The webbing is long, but the cams will hold a significant length around them if you need to shorten the length significantlyWhat I don't so much like:-The hooks. They aren't large enough to fit around my Yakima roof rack, which is a pain. Nor can I use the hook to loop the webbing around the rack because the hook angle won't allow it. Too bad. I have to jury rig it.Overall:-I can't give this product less than four stars because its so incredibly well constructed, and if my roof rack bars weren't quite so large it would be perfect. Still, it wouldn't hurt to change to hooks to make them more universal. If you can connect the hooks together, this is as good as it gets.

Take a step up from the entry level.
I decided to get these not because of their ability to hold a little more weight based on the wider strap but because of all the reviews that place the failure of those low end models on the ratchet mechanism itself. I believe I have made the right decision. These stow nicely in the bed cabinets or under the back seat of my Tacoma and are simple enough for my wife to be willing to learn their proper use. I've used them for some pretty heavy appliances and my wife just used them for a trip to Ikea. They are rated far higher than needed for these tasks so of course they passed with flying colors but best of all when we needed them they were there to provide the piece of mind I purchased them for. They can handle more weight than I will ever use them for and I have no fear of the mechanism failing, all for a paltry $30. I can live with that.

Handy tie downs
I used to work for a small independent moving company and we used ratchet straps on a very regular basis. These are some of the better straps I've used. They have rubber pads on both the ratchet handle and the release making them more friendly to use without gloves. They stay tight and have come in very handy for tying down large awkward loads in the bed of my truck, refrigerator, washer dryer, flooring, trees, bushes, etc....Only thing to be aware of is that the hooks are a doubled up piece of @ 3/8" steel so they're a little wide. Not always easy to fit into other hooks and tie down cleats. These are made with a pretty fine fiber so I'm not sure how well they'll hold up to abrasion with heavy regular use but so far they've been great.

Not THAT heavy duty
Don't be confused to think that these are actual heavy duty straps, these are perfect to secure something to the bed of you truck, or something light to a small trailer, but if you're looking for something tough, you need 2inch or bigger. I knew these wouldn't be that tough, but sometimes you just need some with a smaller/different shaped hook. A decent set to add to your truck or trailer's toolbox, but by no means heavy duty.

THEY WILL HOLD A LOAD
All in all I'm satisfied with these straps, but I did have a bit of a problem when I went to cinch down my load...the ratchet tended to slip. This may have been my fault and if that turns out to be the case I'll try to remember to come back and edit my review. (I've only used them once and that's really not giving them much of a chance).

Try Home Depot Instead
This thing has parts concealed on website that one only finds out about upon arrival. Example: the hooking mechanism. My suggestion: abandon Amazon on this product. Instead, go to Home Depot. It has what must be 15 different types of ratchet straps. You will find a strap to your liking and know what you're getting..

Extremely satisfied
Bought these for a cross country road trip involving a Budget truck and two large motorcycles. All I can say is that these items worked splendidly for the entire trip. They DID NOT loosen up over a 1200 mile journey, they didn't snap, and they didn't fray. So far, so good. The handles and ratcheting mechanism works well, but the strap I have to say seems a little flimsy. I wouldn't let that sway you, though, because they worked well for me and I am sure they are good up to the manufacturers suggested rating.

Didn't hold up
I bought two of these (4 total) and wish I hadn't. The handles are great for tightening everything down, but after exposure to any kind of water (I live in the desert) they become a major pain in the rear to loosen. One of them is basically useless at this point and another one is on its way out.PS these were not used for work or any big loads, just on two camping trips up to the mountains so it's not like they should have worn out yet.
