Overall this was an OK book but I got a little tired of the ongoing efforts to make "cute" comments and refer to other sections of the book - especially later in the book when it seemed every other paragraph referred back to an earlier chapter. I also felt that the references to the figures were not always as clear as they could be and as I was reading this on a Kindle it was very difficult to move back and forth between the text and the figures ...

I really needed better pictures.

a very general review not helpful for getting a good grade

I needed a nice overview of biology to provide context as I discuss the topic with my high-school son. This book does a great job of bringing the overall field into a comprehensible primer, and I learned a lot. I appreciate the skillful use of analogies (proteins as worker robots) and enjoy the levity used in the book. I know how hard it is to make technical material accessible, and I think that the author did well. I would encourage Amazon to provide the X-ray feature for this title to aid in the construction of flash cards.

The book is brilliant. You get a lot of knowledge and learn a lot about biology. I think the book has been written in a style that someone that doesn’t know much biology can comfortably learn from it and read it. Not like some books out there that are designed and written for people that already have knowledge on the subject of the book.However, I would say that in order to fully understand some topics, you would need to know a bit of organic chemistry. The basics of organic chemistry.PS: I think it’s suitable for people that are preparing for GAMSAT exams.
