Great little movie player for the price!
I wasn't sure if I should buy this or not after reading many reviews. Here are my thoughts now. I may add more detail if I have time later.- The screen resolution and quality is not great, but it works fine and kids don't care. I still enjoyed watching shows with my kid on it. The screen seems durable too. My 1 yr old stepped on it and it still works fine. Can't complain, because of price.- Audio volume through speakers and headphones is fine. Some reviews complained about this. If you can't here the speakers use some headphones. in a quiet room We would set the volume to 2. it goes to 15 or 20.- The remote control works fine, some features only on the remote. Pushing vs. holding the buttons on the player have different actions.- I originally planned on using the SD card slot to play all videos and to not use DVD's at all. However, the SD card sticks out from the side too much and makes it likely to get broken off by children or in the way of the case.- SOLUTION: instead of SD card use a small form factor USB flash drive. I bought one for $10 and it works awesome! It plugs in on the back instead of the side and since it doesn't stick out very far you don't even remember its there. I used it to play many videos (and music during nap time).- USE Any Video Converter (it is Free) to create the video files from existing video files. All my kids movies were DVD > handbrake (x264), but for this player I had to convert: handbrake [mp4 (x264)] > any video converter [mp4/avi (mpeg4)]. Handbrake will not work, because it can only produce a VBR MP3 audio codec and player wants CBR MP3 audio.- I have only watched a couple actual DVDs on this, but it worked fine.Additional note on MP4 codec settings for video file playback:Video and Audio codec settings:- Video codec MPEG4 (either MP4v or XVID)- Audio codec MP3 (CBR) 128 kb/s and 44.1 khz- File name probably doesn't matter, buy I used .aviUPDATE: the buttons on the unit don't work well after just a few months. now I have to use the remote control for everything. Other than that, the unit is still working well.

Great Unit
We bought this for our Hyundai Elantra for a road trip. I was a little nervous when it arrived, seeing as the cigarette outlet cord seemed a bit short. Thankfully it reached no problem (from front of car outlet to backseat of passenger headrest) with room to spare. If you have a bigger car, I think it should still work, but it may need a longer cord (just in case!).We mounted it with the VideoSecu Portable Adjustable DVD CD Player Mount for Car Headrest- Black Color MDC20 M25 and it works like a charm. A way better mount than the strap on mounts. The battery has seemed to work well, and I like that it uses the car energy, but when the car turns off, it will stay on using it's battery. The volume isn't amazing, but it is definitely loud enough for the passenger in the seat watching the unit. I also like that is swivels and flattens out so it's flush against the back of the car seat, instead of sitting like a laptop with the "keyboard" folded out in front. (Of course that is an option) The only downfall is if you are wanting to change the movie in the car, you have to unhook it from the mount, pull it out, replace dvd, fold back up, and remount it. Not a big issue for us since our trip wasn't too long and my 1 year old likes watching the same thing over and over anyways. Also, there is a USB port that is a great plus. Hubby downloaded some of her favorite TV shows and they were easily accessed (USB hangs out the bottom of the dvd player- which was a little bit of an issue since my daughter was able to reach it with her feet, so she kicked it and bent it a bit). One CON would be the fact that if the dvd player is folded up (like we had it on our trip) the only way to "play" the movie is to use the remote. No button on the sides. So don't lose the remote! All in all I think it's a great unit for the price paid. It's a perfect size for our smaller car and the color and picture seems to be just fine!
