Beautiful Craftsmanship, Great Bible
I watched a lot of YouTube videos on reviews of premium Bibles, and I landed on this one. I am really happy I went with this one too. It’s the perfect size, not too big and not too small. The binding is just wonderful and the cowhide is so, so soft. It’s probably the best binding I have personally had in a Bible. It lays flat and the paper is perfect. It’s not tissue thin like cheaper Bibles and the text is line matched. The pages have a softer cream hue that’s easier on the eyes. I’m sure this one will last a lifetime. I had purchased the burgundy goatskin NRSV with Apocrypha earlier in the year but returned it because it was too small and the writing wasn’t quite large enough for me. I also prefer the sewn edge binding, not the glued edge binding. I just think it has a more finished look to it. I’d definitely purchased this Bible again and I think it’s the best midpoint priced Cambridge premium Bible, especially if you wait for a sale like I did.

‘The one’... or at least mine.
I own a few premium Bibles but this is hands down my favorite. I actually saw Tim Wildsmith’s review online and knew I had to buy this one before it sells out. I’ll leave it to Tim and others to discuss all the highlights of this Bible, but I must point out the only 2 flaws that I have found. These flaws are so minimal they are not an issue but if we’re being particular (which Bible enthusiast tend to be) these are what Cambridge could correct and have, what I believe to be, the perfect Bible.1. The text runs a little into the gutter. This is due to to he thickness of the book. I wish Cambridge could’ve given just slightly more room on the insides of the pages.2. The art gilding is almost non-existent. This is not a problem for me personally, I almost prefer the way it is now, but other’s prefer a deep color on the page edges when the Bible lays open.Bible enthusiasts are often in search of ‘the one’ and this is mine. Although, admittedly, my collection won’t end here - but if I had to choose one Bible to save when the house is burning down this would be it; without pause. I only wish Cambridge would print this version/format in ESV. I think they realize it would be so good it would put other publishers out of business overnight, so I like to think. An admirable and Christlike nod to their peers.

Worth the money
I love this bible. The leather is so soft yet feels durable. You can open the bible to any page and it will stay open. The binding is amazing and I love the gold shimmer on the edge of the paper. I love not just reading the word, but the experience of reading it now as well. This will definitely be a bible I pass down to my children.

My go-to!
My absolute favorite Bible of all time. Bought one and my wife immediately tried to steal it! Had to buy her one as well! Great text. Binding is superb. Gilt edges are perfect. NRSV (non-ue) is a great translation that is my personal, perfect balance of accuracy to the original texts AND readability at the end of a long day.

Great Bible!
I love this bible. The quality of the leather and how it was put together is just awesome. This is now my go to favorite bible to use. I know it costs little more than some cheaper versions, but it’s well worth it. I love the two ribbons and the cross reference it has. Would definitely recommend.

Probably My Favorite Bible
To say I was pleasantly surprised when this Bible arrived would be an understatement, because I was truly stunned. The cowhide leather is as soft and floppy as any goatskin Bible I own, and the texture is incredibly smooth. The aesthetic touches are subtle and understated, but very well done. I would say that this is the most unique edition that I have seen from Cambridge, and I would quickly buy it in other translations if they made it available. This Bible has an “it” factor that is somewhat difficult to explain. It feels both rugged and delicate at the same time, and that’s because of the combination of the cowhide leather cover with the gentler aesthetic touches like the coppery-gold printing, the soft art gilding on the pages, and the burnt sienna ribbons. I can see a rugged outdoorsman carrying this Bible on a camping trip with his buddies, but I can also see a millennial hipster woman using it in her Instagram Stories.I obviously love this Bible from the outside, but the inside is just as nice. It features a traditional, two-column page layout with cross-references in the center and textual footnotes at the bottom of the page. The typography of the main text is just a hair under 9pt in a serif font called Swift that is well-spaced and line matched on opaque paper, creating a very comfortable reading experience. The glossary and full-color Cambridge maps at the back of the Bible are accompanied by several sheets of blank cardstock for notes. In a world where high-quality editions of the NRSV are few and far between, the Brown Cowhide NRSV Reference Edition from Cambridge stands out. But let’s be honest, this is an impressive Bible that stacks up against the top editions in any translation. Whether you’re an NRSV fan or just someone who loves beautiful Bibles, this one needs to be at the top of your list.
