The Best of Jules Verne (Wordsworth Author Collections)

Interesting Classic tales.

I originally was going to buy The Mysterious Island and the From the Earth to the Moon & Around the Moon separately since I already bought the Canterbury book that had the other four novels. I later decided to buy the set. Only the Mysterious Island and the moon book had illustrations. The font size is small but bigger than the Canterbury book. I compared paragraph by paragraph between this set and the Canterbury on random sections. For the most part they were identical except the Canterbury had some whole missing paragraphs. This Wordworth set states on the back cover that it's unabridged so that explains why it had paragraphs that were missing in the Canterbury. The set wasn't boxed and was wrapped in a red ribbon. Some edges and corners came damaged. I realized that the Mysterious Island book came from a different printing and doesn't match with the other books although it is of the same edition. See spine format in the picture. It kind of ruins the set.

JV is a great intro to sci-fi for kids. My primary school aged daughter and son noticed the characters in the new movie Luca reading Jules Verne so we bought this great set of five classics, and they dove right in and love them. Reading is fundamental, friends!!

A wonderful collections of stories. It comes in a little storage box. This makes a perfect gift for a children. The books are well written.

I bought this book because I had the original 1910 edition (with pen and ink drawings) when I was a kid. The entire collection was bought by my Grandfather in the 1020's or 30's for my Dad. He passed them on to me. Unfortunately at some point the books were gone. I always wanted to recover at least a few of the books.Although this is a smaller format, it has the same pen and ink drawings and it was delightful to see them again.The book was probably prinetd in the 70's and it arrived in very good condition.I'm very happy with the purchase.

This book contains good translations of "The Clipper of the Clouds" and "Around the World in 80 Days". It includes all of the original illustrations, unlike most books, which only have a few. The one flaw of this book is that it has an inferior translation of "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (but it does have the original illustrations). It is easily worth the money.

Bought it for my 13-year son who was reading Jules Verne on kindle but complained about the lack of illustrations. This book combines three novels and has the original illustrations. This completely transforms the reading experience. Highly recommended.
