Q: I require a QUIET AC portable unit that doesn't require draining by self-evaporating What should I look for?

In some cases, the water will collect in the water tank rather than being evaporated completely, this means you will have to empty the unit’s water through the drain plug. I found that to be difficult to do. I ended up purchasing a pump that is designed for portable air conditioners/heaters. It pumps the water out the same window that the exhaust is venting through. I found it on Amazon. Search the following in Amazon’s search bar: B07QX7KT7W.

Q: How long the window kit?

According to Honeywell's website the window bracket adjustable from 19.9 to 47.25 inches.

The hose and a plastic window slide mount for the hose come with the unit to discharge the heat/evaporating process. Kind of a bumber as my windows swing out. It is made for windows that slide up so plastic insert can be placed in open bottom of window, which is a security risk if on the 1st floor. Also hose gets quit warm and should be insulated to prevent heat from hose interfering with the cooling of the room. The unit works very well in our 2nd fl Master bed room. But a permanent install would be better, where you back the unit up to a exterior wall hole saw a hole through and install a dryer type vent outside. I hope this explanes it! I bought this because I have been recovering from back surgery in bed and we were having our hottest summer in Alaska. Especially upstairs as we have no central AC. Had my boys install it. Definatly does the job, kept our large bedroom cool.

You can make this kind of AC fit almost any kind of window, even the crank open kind. Just get a piece of plexiglas cut - for a sliding window, it does not have to be very wide. I recently had one cut for an office window (the dimensions of the plastic were 9" wide and 60" high (to fit the height of the window). I had the plastics store cut an opening in the plastic that matched the adapter, and then glued the adapter to the plastic window insert. When you have the kind of window that cranks open, outward, I got a piece of plastic cut to fit over the entire window, again with a cutout to fit the adapter that the exhaust hose fits into. This one had a threaded collar to screw onto the hose, and I glued that collar to the plastic window sheet.
