I threw away about 2/3s of my vitamins after doing a lot of research and discovered how poor the quality of most are. Solgar is one of the best vitamin brands out there!

Long story, I stopped all health aids for several months and my eyes paid the price. I can't confirm years of use kept my vision perfect and my eyes healthy but do know my eyes went bad when I stopped. Coincidence? I suspect not.

We've used a number of Lutein supplements in the past. It comes in a nice glass (not plastic) bottle, and the ingredients look great, and has a long shelf life.The problem is that it's much more expensive than Doctor's Best 120 Veggie Caps that we've been using.The caveat is that the Solgar has twice as much Lutein per serving (40mg compared to 20mg of the Doctor's Best). Doctor's Best has 2mg of Zeaxanthin though.So, do you buy this which costs a lot more?The question often comes down to quality. The Solgar doesn't use Magnesium Stearate, and Doctor's Best does. So, the Solgar has a leg up there. Also the amount of Lutien is double in the Solgar, so you could take it every other day and get 60 days uses out of it, but it still doesn't compare to the 120 day supply you can get from Doctor's Best for the same price.So the reason you'd want to get the Solgar over the Doctor's Best is if you want, or need to, avoid magnesium stearate, or for some reason believe that the Solgar is more pure Lutein, although I don't see any evidence for that.Lutein is important whether you get it from this supplement or not. I like how they point out on the bottle that "Scientific evidence indicates that Lutein helps filter out high energy blue-light from the sun and artificial light, which may otherwise induce oxidative stress and possible free-radical damage to the eyes and skin."

Well, I am kind of disappointed that I did not get a free bottle to give a review, after seeing so many reviews here from people who got free samples, but this product is good enough it deserves a review anyway. I used to get rid of intermittent quick flashes of light in the peripheral vision of my left eye. After taking one a day for a few days, the flashes got less and less frequent. Now as I just completed my 2nd bottle and ordered my 3rd, I hardly ever notice the flashes anymore and cannot recall when the last one happened. This is a product where I can definitely say there has been a noticeable and positive result from its use.Update:I also had floaters and this was recommended to get rid of them too. They also went away while using Solgar 40 mg lutein. Later, I decided to switch to a less expensive brand of 40 mg lutein. Eventually, the floaters returned but even worse. I am switching back to Solgar since this brand and dosage was what first solved the problem. My new bottle is arriving today.

Though expensive, I know I can depend on Solgar not to warer down their supplements. They have a reputation for the purest supplements on the market. I feel safe using them. However, is there a way Solgar can lower their prices and still provide the excellent products they are known for?

Quality & Trust describes SOLGAR 40 MG. A very old good product around since 1947. I find it is helps the eyes . It is Gluten free, Wheat & Dairy free. A hard to find because it sells so fast. Try it ! I am happy that we have a good company like AMAZON around for us. They still do a great job....and we appreciate it .
