Very clear practical strategies
The author gets right to the point and provides very clear strategies with practical applications for anyone struggling with any level of anxiety. I related so well with the content I got thru 9 of 11 in just a few hours. She even provides links to print out support documents to help you work through the CBT exercises. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent book with one small issue
There is SO much helpful thinking in this book. I believe it can be incredibly helpful for visually anyone with anxiety - with a slight concern and possible exception - people with diagnosed anxiety disorder need more than the book for guidance, and it's highly unlikely that a psychiatrist would automatically agree with pursuing some of the Monkey Training methods that are proposed. Anxiety is complicated at best, but there are people out there who could suffer significant levels of panic attacks while trying some of these techniques, and I didn't really see a lot of warning in that regard. That also points to the issue that sometimes the folks reading the book are trying to help someone else, and there's really no allowance for that. If the anxious person isn't the one reading the book and trying the techniques, there's a lot that just can't happen. The book is great for people who need to learn to face "reasonable" amounts of anxiety problems. Some people have a more complicated problem.

This book is simple yet amazing
This is my go to book for when my anxiety is acting up. Most books say to just let the anxiety pass or float with the anxiety which seems impossible. This book puts your anxiety as a monkey (monkey brain) and it is much easier for me to imagine a monkey messing with me. Now i am more prone to think “oh! The monkey is messing with me” rather than my normal “omg! I’m feeling anxious” which adds to the anxiety. If you are anxious i highly recommend this book. While i have read many good anxiety books this one kind of simplifies it for you to where it seems possible to control your anxiety. For me, i don’t get as panicked because it’s just an annoying little monkey messing with me.

Is currently changing my life
If you are struggling with anxiety I would highly highly recommend this book. I started reading it rolling my eyes because I hate self help books but thats not what this is. This book is an action plan to not only cope with your anxiety but to eventually, with practice, lessen your anxiety. I always felt my brain was this unique thing that no one else could understand until I read this book. For such a small book it has had a HUGE impact on my life. It is the first book I have ever read that really made me feel like I could tame my anxiety and even incorporate it as a partner in my life.

Read it, it really helps
I love this book. I first listened to the audio version, but loved it so much I bought it for my husband to read (and to reread when I’m having a bad day) I’ve suffered from anxiety for as long as I can remember. I think anyone could relate to much of the analogies that the author sets up. I also appreciate how the author goes into the scientific background of how our minds have evolved to create anxiety as a natural safeguard. As someone who is fascinated with our evolutionary roots, I found that to really put things into perspective. That constant tight feeling in my chest is finally gone after this book. (My therapist has helped too) I highly recommend this book as a great supplement to anyone struggling with anxiety!

How to outsmart that monkey on your back
Awesome practical insights on why we constantly worry and how we can break free😀No magic cures here but effectively logical steps that taken consistently ensure that you get that noisy monkey to tone down that chatter on your mind.I have started to use it and it has proven effective to help me deal with my stress at work when I am in the what if this or that happens... More commonly known as disaster thinking.

Just the right amount of practical
This book was great - not a broad psychology book filled with jargon but a practical one filled with examples of a few anonymized clients and the author themselves. What I liked was the focus on the causes of anxiety - over responsibility, perfectionism, etc and the argument that the worry they trigger is in most cases unwarranted and counter productive. A good read for anyone not taking the chances they think they want to take, or for someone that feels themselves trapped in their head and their own thoughts.

Lo leí en menos de 3 días. Realmente me atrapó desde el principio, es claro, sencillo y sobre todo muy entendible. Contiene hojas descargables para avanzar y comprender mejor nuestra alianza contra la ansiedad.

An excellent source of self knowledge
The book is an excellent short read, with a lot of useful and practical information about our amygdala functions in just 151 pages. It's very practical, to the point, and with examples based on the author's clients, which we can relate to very easily. Due to being an enriched short read, I would definetely recommend to anyone, because after all, we all need our operating manuals because we didn't born with one included.

This book is a "must read" for all those who experience anxiety.
A few people can recover using processes that focus on managing thoughts but for the majority who have tried this and achieved no benefit or short term benefit then this book is for them. It explains clearly how developing strategies such as "distraction" to manage symptoms, and practising them all day everyday can lead to a conditioned association so that every time you "distract" you send a message to your amygdala to confirm that there is a perception of danger and symptoms perpetuate in a continuous cycle. Instead Jennifer Shannon explains how to live your life in a fulfilling way with total acceptance of the sensations in the body and how to take action in response to your environment rather than trying to control and change symptoms. she describes her approach as CBT oriented but this implies you will be working with your mind and your thoughts whereas my understanding of this book is that you accept these and instead take action in order to get all your needs met. Don't be put off from reading this if you have tried CBT before and found it didn't help.

Fantastic
This book is so simple to read and understand. After having NLP, CBT and hypnotherapy for anxiety, plus EFT for trauma, I can honestly say this book beats them all.As I was reading it explained my anxieties, my triggers and how I related, and reacted to them. I felt so understood! This book offers a direct way to work with the anxiety. It doesn’t tell you to ignore, or replace your thoughts. What it does is explain how to learn to hold the anxious feelings and thus help stop the cycle of anxiety. As I was reading I was recognising this style was actually the same as some spiritual practices I do. Such as non resistance and acceptance. They say the path out of anxiety is to go through it. I believe this to be true, and this book does an incredible job of holding your hand and walking you through the process.Every aspect is considered and you get a great and yet simple tool kit to help start the process.Really really wonderful.

Feel the fear and do it anyway
First off the book itself is flimsy. For the price itself I expected expected better.Despite this I had high hopes. I am half way through and I am losing hope. Theres a lot of quizzes I need to take but I have to create an online account so I don’t bother. There’s loads of tangents/stories/diagrams/charts etc. she really delves in deep but I don’t really feel like she is going anywhere with it. Some of the book is really interesting but a lot of it can relate to a lot of people and I don’t think everyone who may have certain traits necessarily have anxiety. The solution is kind of “feel the fear and do it anyway” don’t feed your anxiety right by giving in to it.
