* NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER* *AN XXL BEST RAPPER-PENNED BIOGRAPHY* “A gripping journey.”— People The highly anticipated memoir from hip-hop icon Rick Ross chronicles his coming of age amid Miami’s crack epidemic, his star-studded controversies and his unstoppable rise to fame. Rick Ross is an indomitable presence in the music industry, but few people know his full story. Now, for the first time, Ross offers a vivid, dramatic and unexpectedly candid account of his early childhood, his tumultuous adolescence and his dramatic ascendancy in the world of hip-hop. Born William Leonard Roberts II, Ross grew up “across the bridge,” in a Miami at odds with the glitzy beaches, nightclubs and yachts of South Beach. In the aftermath of the 1980 race riots and the Mariel boatlift, Ross came of age at the height of the city’s crack epidemic, when home invasions and execution-style killings were commonplace. Still, in the midst of the chaos and danger that surrounded him, Ross flourished, first as a standout high school football player and then as a dope boy in Carol City’s notorious Matchbox housing projects. All the while he honed his musical talent, overcoming setback after setback until a song called “Hustlin’” changed his life forever. From the making of “Hustlin’” to his first major label deal with Def Jam, to the controversy surrounding his past as a correctional officer and the numerous health scares, arrests and feuds he had to transcend along the way, Hurricanes is a revealing portrait of one of the biggest stars in the rap game, and an intimate look at the birth of an artist. Review: Excellent Memoir - Truly enjoyed reading this memoir while recovering. Insightful, thoughtful…excellent way to put the pieces to the puzzle together. New level of respect. Review: A reminder that great things can emerge from life's storms. - Purchased this about 6 months ago and finally finished after a few delays. I have been a Rick Ross fan but never a die hard/hardcore fan. This book shared a lot of great information and explained a lot of things that had been twisted by the media. The honesty, ownership and absolute hustle the Teflon Don speaks about in this book is a real eye opener. It was very interesting to see the behind the scenes stories and information not fully known to the public. I have to take my hat off to this man for sharing the good, the bad and the ugly - all of the behind the scenes documenting his trials and tribulations in this book. The amount of determination and ambition is something extremely admirable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Rick Ross, hip hop, business or learning life lessons.

Great red for Hip Hop Heads
If your're a fan of Ross or not, or a hip hop fan in general this is a great read, as we've all been there since his debut, Port of Miami and this Chronicles from the start even before then, through then, until recently. Now looking into his 2nd book.

Rozzay
As a fan of the most iconic grunts in music history, it's very interesting to read about the trials and tribulations of one of my favorite artist and entrepreneur. Ross details his memoir in a way that catches readers attention. From his rise in the music industry to his success in the fast-food industry, Ross definitely answers a lot of questions concerning his come up in Miami.

Loved this Memoir
I am not a huge fan of rap, but I loved this memoir. The title of the book is a metaphor for Ross's life : the trauma and the triumph. Everyone who has been down and out at times ( aka all of us) should be able to relate to Ross's story. His perseverance, discipline and focus in the face of adversities is to be admired. I finished this memoir in a day.... the style is engaging, genuine, and straight forward.... as if Ross is sitting down and and having a conversation with you. Highly recommend!

Work of Pure Genius
When reading, I am most involved with stories and characters that are relatable. As humans, we learn from one another. During my years in the Army, I came across a well thorough and seasoned Soldier named Jerald Harden during my tour in Germany. Jerald said to me, when you become too old to learn, you become to old to live. Reading this Brothers book was a blessing. To have a front row seat throughout the struggles and successes of one willingly ready to lay it all out on the line, regardless of opinion, means more than he’ll ever know. We don’t all make it out, but this book will guide the ones seeking. Thank you!
