Black & Decker 242381-00 Lawn Mower Blade

Replacing this blade helped revive my aging electric Black and Decker lawnmower. The old blade had many nicks and dents in it, acquired over the years, which made the mower vibrate quite a bit. this solved the problem and makes it cut better. Not too difficult to install. requires a socket wrench to get the nut off.

As delivered the blade edge was painted and felt dull. It was safe for handling and install. To remove the nut holding the old blade, I jammed the new one in the grass chute and tilt it such that the old blade hits the center hole of the new one. After just a little grass cutting the edge paint wore away. The edge under the paint is much sharper. The mower is so much easier to use now and the grass chute did not jam at all.

I used it once, and it works fine. It appears to not be sharp when it is shipped. It appears that the sharp edges are painted over (for safe handling I assume). I used a fine sandpaper on one half of blade to remove the paint. On the other half I left it how it was because my very trusted handyman neighbor advised me not to worry about it being sharp, it doesn't have to be that sharp. I attached it to the mower and the grass was cut with the same ease as with the other sharpen blades I've had. It works fine!

Yesss, I've had an old craftsman lawnmower for years but the blade was so old it couldn't be sharpened anymore and never knew what blade to replace as they were discontinued under craftsman. This worked, a review says the blade paint wears to be sharper, but I'd like it to be blade sharp at the start. That is an easy fix though and packaged very well.

Got this for my craftsman 19" mulching mower. It fit, the grass is cut. Yay!There was a small area on one edge that seems like the paint/coating didn't adhere, but it does not seem to effect the performance. Wondering if perhaps, over time, it'll rust or cause a weak spot that will break? Hopefully by then it'll be someone else's problem. I included a picture....

I personally believe that in some scenarios it's best just to replace parts/items with OEM and I had purchased this blade to replace an original installed blade due to the original was in bad shape that even after sharpening it wasn't working very well... It was easy to install as I was already familiar with the process and I will probably buy another blade in the future as back-up when needed.

The blade fits the mower as expected. It isn't quite as sharp as I'd like - taller weeds still need a second pass.

Exact replacement for my Black & Decker MM850. Others have complained it is not sharp. Don't worry about it. The paint will wear off and it is sharp. Did a great job on the first use. Hardest part was getting the old blade off. It took a lot of force, but the bolt did loosen without breaking anything.

Product was as expected but delivery was slow.
