Luxor Illustrated, Revised and Updated: With Aswan, Abu Simbel, and the Nile

Great book. Very interesting.

Informative book about the Luxor Temple in Luxor, Egypt.

I was expecting a little more from the book Luxor Illustrated. The quality of the paper/cardstock used for the cover feels flimsy, and the paper the book is printed on seems a little different than what I've seen/felt in most books, almost as if it was printed-on-demand (but I don't think it was). The quality of the photos are fine. It seems like it is the sort of thin (maybe 1/4" thick?) book you might pick up as a tourist on a visit to Luxor, to remind you of places you visited or to help you identify your own photos later? I haven't had a chance to read the text yet, but expect it to be sound, as it is published by the American Univ. in Cairo. Not a coffee-table book. But I appreciate the photos; and as someone who hasn't been to Egypt yet, I look forward to reading it.

Lovely photos and very clear, concise explanations of the ancient Egyptian worldview. Well organized as well. You can pick it up and put it down and read just a page or two at a time. I would imagineit would be easy to take with you if you travelTo Egypt ….

Of the books of Egypt that we bought before our trip, this one had the most excellent photographs. Content and everything is good about this book. Highly recommended.

Have always been fascinated by Egypt, going this summer and wanted to read up on Luxor.

If you think you have room in your luggage. Spend a few dollars or Egyptian pounds with the local vendors while visiting Luxor and buy a book from them, cheaper and you help their economy.

As I said above... I find the book description quite misleading in saying "it covers" a number of rich sites, one would think there is detailed information or photography, looking to actually learn something. That's not the case.The book gives you several beautiful but generic pictures for each site, and the text is basic captioning for the pics. This belongs in the souvenir shops and nowhere else. Only for people that wish for a physical reminder of their trip, otherwise you'll find more and probably better pictures with a simple on-line search.
