Depends a bit on the size of the cupcakes and how close they are together, but at least 3 dozen, I'd say.

Do the trays come off the stands for cleaning?

Yea and you can use them as 3 separate trays if needed

Will a quart size mason jar fit on any of these strays while stacked?

The plates are too close together for mason jars to fit in between

Are the three transculent plates inexpensive plastic, plexi, or glass? Are they dishwasher safe?

It’s not glass or plexi, it is pretty strong plastic. You could probably wash top rack in a dishwasher but I like to hand wash them. Have used them twice and they sit nice and sturdy in the holders . I fill them up with cupcakes and cake and no issues. Better than I expected
