PF (05) CORNWALL (Pathfinder Guides) Paperback – 7 Jan. 2013

I bought this book for a Cornwall walking holiday last month, alongside the AA guide for the same area. After only 2 walks it was clear that the Pathfinder wins the competition hands down. Very clear, precise maps (actual OS excerpts). Detailed descriptions (to the degree where it says "you see a traffic sign sticking out of the hedge"...and you go there... and it does! Amazing :-)..) Nice little inserts with extra information for the area of each walk, inviting photos, nice selection of walks, realistic descriptions as to difficulty and road conditions etc. Maybe a bit conservative where walking times are concerned - but then I walk quite fast. But the best feature has to be the map display! Only mild criticism might be that all the walks are coastal. Bodmin Moor doesn't get a mention! Eh? But apart from that I shall return to this book for my next trip to Cornwall! I bought a book of this series for walks in the Yorkshire Dales which I liked, but the Cornwall one seems even better researched and written than that one. It's so nice not having to carry a map round your neck as this book does supply that function as well! A winner!

I bought this book before my first trip to Cornwall, and due to bad weather was only able to do one hike (walk 27). However, this hike was so excellent - loved the combination of the popular coast walk with the less known countryside walk which had many surprises and intriguing moments. The map was excellent, impossible to get lost. The descriptions are detailed when needed, and scarce when the way is obvious - which is how they should be.The format of the book is very convenient for putting into pockets, the pages are thick and good quality which means they don't get torn out, damaged or get dirty when on a hike, which is also excellent.I will definitely return and try other walks from this book.

I have had this book for many years and have done most of the walks from it. Without exception, they have all been beautiful, breathtaking and thoroughly memorable walks. It's difficult to pick a favourite as they are all very good in their own way, but the clifftop views on the Porthcurno walk take some beating. Not the cheapest book of its type but well worth the money for the fantastic days out it inspires.

really pleasant book om walking in Cornwall, maps are helpful and some of the descriptions are comical

Bought this item to plan some walking in Cornwall when we visit later this year. A good concise guide, good maps and map references and some lovely photos. It's certainly wet our appetite for Cornwall and is very good value for money.

Very good walking guide for Cornwall.We took a few of those walks, all very well structured and well written. Also good descriptions and maps.Really liked the guide, can only recommend it when you're interested in a selection of different walks in Cornwall.

Really like these guides, always reliable and easy to follow, the OS references for waypoint to enter into your GPS is a nice touch. Won't use the Cornwall guide 'til later this year but confident it will be as good as the others.

ok but not for the area we wanted

We hiked the SW Coast Trail and a map for just that trail would have been better for us. This was for short walks that were not all along the coast. To find each section we hiked it was a lot of page turning to find that section that was included in other walks.

I completed about 6 of the hikes in the book. The descriptions were clear (and when it says "rough terrain", it MEANS rough!). I got lost once but otherwise no problems whatsoever. Many of the walks are somewhat short, so on two days of my vacation I combined two different walks in order to have a longer hike. That worked great.

Wie gewohnt von der Reihe gute Wandervorschläge. Man brauch aber z.T wie im Führer vorgeschlagen entweder noch eine detalierte Wanderkarte oder muss die Wegpunkte in sein Smartphone etc. speichern.
