Mad Mutilator (1983, aka Ogroff) - 30th Anniversary (French audio with English subtitles)

Ogroff is one of the very first European 'Shot-On-Video' Horror flicks to appear way, way back in 1983. It's cheap. Very cheap! A psycho nutjob wearing a metal mask lives in a shack in the forest. He kills anyone who invades his woodland sanctuary (Except a random female-in-distress who he abducts) Err, and that's about it!!If you like the early films of Andreas Schnaas (Violent Sh💩t, Zombie '90) you'll probably be cute on Ogroff. If you hate amateur 'Gore' movies then avoid this one like the proverbial plague!'The Mad Mutilator' is Mad, Bad, Bloody .... & Boring! EuroTrash thespian 'legend' Howard Vernon appears in a (very brief) cameo during the final moments (not!) driving a car!

If you like to have BAD movie nights with your friends, then this will probably become a favorite among your circle. If you're looking for something different, and you're a fan of ultra low budget 80's horror, then this film is definitely for you! Ultra generic gory special effects, bad acting, and genre crossing (slasher/zombie/vampire). This film is so insanely stupid, sometimes I wasn't sure if I was watching a horror parody, but I don't think that was the director's intent. There are some unimportant scenes that drag on way too long, and just to speed things up a bit, I'd actually love to re-edit this film to my own liking.You have your choice of cover art A & B, both are reversible, and come in a clear DVD case, that also includes a booklet. The extras include trailers, and stills from the film. I just wish there had been a featurette, or interviews with the cast, and crew.

Ogroff is a mind-numbingly routine cannibal slasher effort. Minimal plot, no acting to speak of, laughably poor effects, horrible video transfer and even worse audio transfer. It seems that if, as the preamble to the film states, the only available masters were so poor that this was the best that could be achieved, someone would have said "Look, it's just not good enough. This one's a bust." Unfortunately, it appears that the temptation to earn just a few more dollars overrules any sense of professional pride.The only redeeming factor for this abortion is that the DVD case insert can be used as kindling.
