I like this modem I can't say anything bad about it.
Personally I think this item is really good and it's fast. But when I had a problem with speed of only getting 100MB of download speed when I was supposed to be getting 800MB and this device will give me 3000MB. The gentleman testing my cable told me that this is one of the worst manufacturers and this box in particular was troublesome and the company lies about their boxes and their speeds. I have not found this to be true yet. When tested outside the house we found that the cable connected to another cable was corroded. So, had nothing to do with the actual modem.

CAVEAT EMPTOR! This thing is BASIC!
I was originally impressed with this product, because what it does, it does well. If you connect to it (directly) and have fast Internet service, it's quick, and very easy to set up and activate, IF you have an iOS or Android device with cell service. Good luck otherwise. The Family controls don't work well AT ALL. Especially now that Apple devices use private MAC addresses. Plus the interface is awfully slow. Also - the support is REALLY hard to get a hold of. You can't email them. Live chat is almost never online. So you have wait on hold. Fortunately, it's not usually more than 10 minutes. That being said, there is a real show-stopper with this device. From day 1, I had a hard time getting it to work with my 2.5GB desktop switch. Usually, I can't even get a DHCP address - or if I do, I get 80-90% packet loss. If I hook up the switch through the 1GB ports, it's fine. But the 2.5GB is unusable.I swapped out the modem, but the new one was still having the same issue. So I swapped out the switch. Same issue! Since, at the time, I only had the switch as a 2.5GB device, I couldn't really test anything else.Flash forward 2 months, and I got a new computer, with a 2.5GB NIC. The modem works fine directly plugged into my computer, but with the switch - unusable. I made another call to Arris support, and the tier 1 guy is like: yeah - sorry - these don't handle switches on the 2.5GB very well. I asked if there was a fix, and he said he'd get me to the next level of support. Still waiting to hear back, an hour later. It would have been good to know that when I had trouble on day 1! Before I spent $10 shipping the switch in to be replaced, when nothing was wrong with it!Bottom line: caveat emptor! If you only have 1 thing to hook up at 2.5GB, this thing will do the trick. But if you have an actual network, and you want to use the 2.5GB port, this is not going to do it for you. Get something else.I am now waiting for a refund or firmware update. I'll edit the review with the results.Easter 2022 update: Return was refused because it's been so long. Still no firmware update, and tech support took days to get back to me. I'm stuck with this thing. If you have more than one 2.5GB device, don't get this modem!December 2022 update: The device started dropping the cable connection. Arris forced me to have the cable company come out to verify the cable (which cost me $20) before they would swap it out. FURTHER - there is no way to update the firmware on this P.O.S. Arris says the DOCSIS protocol won't allow them to allow ME - the owner of the modem - to update the firmware: only the cable company can. Cable company says that's hogwash, and they can't update firmware on MY modem.A year later, and I *still* completely regret buying this device, and feel totally ripped off. DON'T DO IT!

ARRIS Surfboard G36 AX3000 Wi-Fi-6 Router
Not sure why they combine reviews here but this is for the ARRIS Surfboard G36 Wi-Fi 6 Router. I currently go through Comcast/Xfinity and went to their website to see what modems they offered before shoping. I wanted something that was future proof with Wi-Fi 6. Found a couple, read reviews that pertained to the ones I was looking at and chose ARRIS this go around. My last Router was a Netgear AC1900, where I had Zero Issues in the 5 years of use until recently when it lost it's Wi-Fi. After receiveing the ARRIS G36 and getting it all set up, I Spent a glorious 2 hours on the phone with Xfinity getting it to connect up and it's been working flawlessly. I found the app, and personaly, it's good for information purposes, like seeing how many devises you have connected or just retreveing the passcode to enter into other devises around the house, but that's it. As for the speed with other devises, I have noticed an increased improvement, less lagging between cell phones tablets and TV's around the house. The Wi-Fi Distance is about the same as my last one, so No complaints there. I'll update as time goes on if there are any issues that arise, but so far, it's Great!Update: 5-10-2023 SURFboard Central App has lost it Speed Test, but I can still access the Password and see how many devices are on. No big deal, I do my speed test on my computer anyways and it still up to par with what I am paying for with my provider. I have had No Issues this past year, speed is steady with all that is connected. In reading other reviews with their problems, I guess I got a good one. But then again, it could be operator error. Ha! Anyways, just wanted to throw an update out there for those who are scrolling through the reviews trying to figure out what to buy next. I'll update as time goes on, but so far so good here.

Get’s job done; Poor app experience; Not 1GB Download capable
Summary: Overall this Surfboard accomplishes the job in its offering as a modem and router combo with 2.4 and 5Ghz transmissions.Pros:* Rather large coverage range, good connectivity in a Ranch/Single story between 1500-2000 square feet. Anymore and you might be stretching its limits.* Easy setup* Compatible with most major American ISPs (definitely with Comcast/Xfinity)* Compact for a powerful modem/router combo, stands vertically fit in many spotsCons:* Not capable with 1GB download speed services (the fastest speed band that most ISPs are now offering)* The App is not very stable; only connects half the time. If it does connect then it’s useful for changing SSID and other configurations. If you’re not going to pay for your ISP’s fasted 1Gbps download speeds then this is a great option/choice. I believe it tops out around 960 Mbps, which is theoretic, it has never hit that for me based on any speed tests with my ISP.

You gotta love the SURFboard modem/router
I started using this very modem/router in 2019, and loved it. A thunderstorm and power surge wiped it out, so I ordered this as a replacement. I had it up and running in about 10 minutes, and Xfinity logs it in via the phone app. It's super fast, powerful, and has 2.4 and 5 ghz signals. Each of those also has a "guest" signal you can enable, so you actually end up with 4 separate channels. This SURFboard keeps all my smart devices, Rokus, wifi security cameras, computers, and tablets all connected and functioning perfectly. You gotta love the SURFboard modem/router.
