A great text for new grads or seasoned veterinarians
When the zombie apocalypse comes (or when you don't have internet) you could take this book with you and easily have everything you need to know about small animal medicine. This book covers basic pathophysiology and elaborates right on up to how to actually do it with high-quality photos and diagrams. There is no compromise in quality of medicine, as gold standard protocols are also provided. It's easy, step-by-step, and incredibly comprehensive. Definitely recommended to any practitioner, not just those working in field medicine.

A must have resource for field veterinarians!
A well written and concise textbook. Invaluable for any veterinarian working in the field or who plans on working in resource poor areas. I'm a veterinarian boarded in preventative medicine and I've worked in several parts of Africa and I plan on taking this book with me from now on. A large animal version will also be hugely beneficial. There are numerous other helpful texts on the small and large animal side but many are only helpful when working in a well equipped clinic.

Long overdue, practical text for anyone working in limited resourced environments
While I might be a bit biased as one of the editors, this book fills a vital lapse in the current veterinary literature. The trend in veterinary medicine is for increasing participation in field-type spay/neuter and rescue activities, particularly internationally. Unfortunately that trend has not been met with an increase in available practical resources. This book is designed for those going into the field, as well as those who work on a day-to-day in an international or rural setting. Readers will find practical treatment protocols, anesthetic dosing charts, and tips and tricks from the field to ensure sustainable animal welfare change.

Written by some of the best in the field (pun intended!)
If only we had this book 20 yrs ago, our work In the field would have been much easier! Field work requires a special approach to veterinary medicine to work in these challenging conditions, yet you can't compromise procedure and protocol. Full of great tips, guidance and practical applications to help get your field clinics up and running in a safe, professional and humane manner. Written by some of the best in the field, with many, many years of experience. You won't be disappointed. From dosing charts to field capture and more, it's all here!

Very practical book
This book seems like it is an extremely practical book. I purchased it despite not doing much small animal practice because this book has lots of excellent resources from highly reputable places all in one place and also has many tips which would be useful for the less stocked clinic or for financially strapped clients to offer suggestions for approaches. I expect I will use this book even in general practice situations.
