Easy Break Downs
This book offers notation and tablature for guitar players. Lots of information about why Warren makes specific choices in his playing and how to do it yourself. Easy to follow, fun to play.

The Simandl of Standard Tuning Slide Guitar
I've bought enough of these types of books to know a winner when I see it. Warren Haynes and Mike Levine team up to write a great book on standard tuning slide guitar. The CD recordings are of a very high performance quality and the transcribed music is not too hard and not too easy. Thanks for including standard music notation as well as tab. It is obvious that Warren Haynes has great respect for the slide guitar art form and is a greatly respected contemporary musician. This book is so good that I can easily see it some day becoming seen as the Simandl for standard tuning slide guitar.

Excellent Course, Makes you work but the pay off is worth it
The course is challenging but if you approach it in pieces and work on them you develop skills that make subsequent sections easier. Some of the reviews I read dinged it for being in standard tuning. First, there are plenty of indicators that the course is set up in standard tuning and second, there are lots of courses for open tuning, not so much with standard - buy one of the other courses if you are looking for open tuning. I personally was looking for and it was the reason I went with this course. With a little imagination, it is easy to take the concepts and runs in the course and transcribe them over into some of your favorite songs, a plus for standard tuning.A couple hits or areas for improvement are: For some reason, my mp3s did not transfer straight across and many of the titles are very similar so periodically it was a challenge getting the right track lined up with the correct lesson. The second point is it would be misleading to say someone relatively new to the guitar is going to pick this course up and sail through it. You maybe able to copy the runs if you practice them enough but some knowledge of theory makes it more rewarding and easier to understand. All in all a great course from a great instructor.

Guide to Slide Guitar
This is a good lesson book but is made for the more experienced player. I was looking for something that gave a bit more instruction such as how to start off holding a slide and how it should be used to get the correct angles and sounds since I've only been playing a few years and haven't been around any slide players.

THE WORD OF THE MASTER!!
I loved learning how Warren gets his sound. As one of the top Slide Players in the world, I was fasinated reading about his tunings and methods. Highly recommended.

Warren Haynes Slide Guitar was a great buy!!
I purchased this book after my guitar teacher brought it to a lesson, and let me tell you, from beginner-to-intermediate level guitarists looking to get control playing slide guitar, this book is great!! The slide was very foreign to me at first, but the CD helped a lot. The licks and explanation Warren gives I found were just the right pace and once you get a feel for dampening the stings of any foul noise (which Warren explains is key), you progress pretty quickly. Then it becomes really fun!! Think about it, not alot of guitarist, (even really good ones) can play slide guitar very well. This book definetly expands your chops and becomes very rewarding when you get the dampening down pat. You may even start experimenting non-slide songs you already know using the slide, which is pretty cool. I have spent $15 on much worse things in life so don't think yourself out of it, just buy it, and spend a half hour of your jamming with the slide, you will be glad you did - its worth every penny!!

Excellent Book on Slide
Great book for playing slide in standard tuning. This book is not easy but the examples sound awesome. You may want to start with a slightly easier book but once you start getting deeper into slide this is the stuff. I particularly like Warren's standard tuning tuning approach to slide playing because I am to lazy to retune and do not want to dedicate a guitar to open tuning. He also states that while standard tuning can be a little more difficult to play slide in it also allows you to do some things that would be very difficult is open tuning. Highly recommended.

Delivers the goods on slide
Quite good and thoughtful early intermediate + book to learning slide in standard tuning. I've studied this topic informally for a few years and it was slow going. I took lessons from very good Chicago players for about six months then I picked this book up. So I'm approaching it from an educated student. Some of ideas laid out are difficult to find elsewhere or it is nice have all this information in one place. His explanations are clear and well thought out. This is one of the few guitar books that is truly 5 star +. Beginners (less than a 1 year with theory or 2 years w/o theory) might find some of it a bit tougher going. Search the internet for areas that are confusing and keep trying!

Great book for slide guitar in standard tuning
I'm just getting into slide guitar (been playing guitar for many years). Great book covering all the basics, tips, etc. to get you going. Warren does a great job explaining techniques to getting great slide tones, as well as advanced tips, getting into acoustic as well. Audio files are very good quality. I have no problem having to download the files as opposed to getting a CD - as long as you have the code from the book you can download from anywhere, as many times as you like. Highly recommended book!

Title should be "Guide to a bunch of slide guitar licks"
Maybe this was not the book I needed, or maybe I misunderstood the title, but I just miss some extra explanations. He tells that you need to dampen strings with both hands... but how exactly? Or at least, how does Warren do it?I would have loved this kind of comments: "When I play this note in this string I usually use this finger, and then for this string I use this other finger..."

One of the top 3 books on slide playing
If you love slide playing Warren Haynes book is an absolute essential. Lots of phrasing that is easy to start with and very borrowable for your mental trick bag. This was so much fun to play through and the cd is great
