Asterix Omnibus 4

i grew up reading asterix and obelix, over 30 years ago, so these books are hugely sentimental for me. great quality book. the colors of the print are great. i bought the paperback version, just like the old comics i used to read. :)

This series of Asterix comic books have been one of my favorites since my childhood, and now, as a senior citizen, i love gifting it to very young relatives and friends with kids. It simply is good clean fun with masterful illustrations to boot. They are amusing enough to bring a smile to any age-group, come to think of it. Can highly recommend and will keep buying them.

We recently introduced him to Asterix and Obelix, and he's hooked. It's wonderful to be able to buy them in this omnibus format, three at a time, because it not only saves shelf space (we have them all separately, and a lot of them hardcover), but it saves a lot of money, too! My son-in-law, being a barely graduated engineer, loves the shelf-space aspect, needless to say, and my daughter doesn't mind re-reading all her old favorites, either. A perfect present all round. We'll keep collecting, and adding. For those of you unfamiliar with this French comic, it's history with a big grin---Julius Caesar and the Gauls from a whole new angle. Rather irreverent, and I'm sure the Romans could complain if they were still around, but hilariously good fun, and clean, too! Like a graphic novel about adventures in historic times, but with some of the cuteness of the smurfs and the tongue-in-cheek sarcasm of Garfield rolled into it as well, you might say. I can only recommend you find any volume and try it out (doesn't matter much which, there's a nice explanation of the background in the front of each.)

I love the Asterix books. They are all funny, and clever. They are for a wide range of ages. I have been enjoying reading them since I was a child and still love them. My kids had a lot of fun reading them.

This is the British translation which I am used to. If you want the US translation then get the papercutz publishers

Although there is a digital version, the print version is great for getting kids off the screen. Good for me and my 10 year old son

I've been reading these in English ever since I found an old copy of "Asterix and Cleopatra" at the public library, and I enjoy them as much today as I did then. The puns, the characters, the settings, it all combines for some good fun. These omnibuses (omnibi?) are a nice size and seem to have a good, sturdy binding. If you're looking for some quick laughs, or you want to catch up with your favorite Gauls, this is a good way to go!

I liked it a lot

This was a present for our grandson's 9th birthday. I was especially pleased as he asked for this book in particular. He has been getting ready early for school so that he can read before he leaves home! Our son, back in 1977, spent his 9th birthday in hospital with a broken thigh bone and he really took to Asterix books during his 6 week stay. He wasn't a keen reader before this but never looked back after that time.
