Unable to stop a thief from stealing his father's modest nest egg, young Vincent grows up blaming himself for his parents' sudden suicide. Becoming a priest [Gary Cairns] who operates a highway-based ministry with his ambivalent brother Michael [Luke Albright], Vincent's services include offering sage confessional advice to regular sinners while raining death on unrepentant thieves. Into the world of this antagonistic duo comes Mary-Francis [Trista Robinson], a psychotic, resourceful woman whose first act of kindness is to kill a thief whose actions threaten to expose the holy brotherly duo. Filled with gratitude for this act, Vincent invites Mary-Francis into their sacred world and triggers a gruesome chain of deadly events that threaten to dismantle the brothers' decades-long partnership. Well done B- level slaher flick
Look, at 61 I actually remember old "Drive-In" double bill low budget horror flicks. This movie would fit perfectly. Nobody's gonna win any Academy Awards; but, the camera work, lighting etc will certainly be a resume enhancer to break in/move up to "A" list films for all involved in the production values. Basically they shot the whole thing on 3 main sets, and two small one; plus a brief tent scene. So kudo's to the techie side and the cast was ABOVE par for the course in an Indie slasher. HEY at a 1.99$ I really felt I got my moneys worth in A GOOD WAY. I wish all the cast and crew good luck in the future; they really did a nice job.

Exciting Throwback Horror Film
Purgatory Road is an exciting new indie horror film that I really enjoyed. I've always been a fan of original, quality horror flicks, so I was eager to check this one out. Purgatory Road involves religion, the deep south, and some really creepy characters that came together for an enjoyable ride that felt like a throwback to horror flicks from decades past. I personally value creativity and originality the most (over a big budget) in watching horror films and this film definitely delivered. I have to say that this film is not for the faint of heart, but I personally prefer that horror films really go for it instead of wasting my time on some overly restrained horror film. I'm very interested in seeing what director Mark Savage does next. If you're into good indie horror films, I'd highly recommend watching Purgatory Road.

Wow
Purgatory Road is a good film that didn't progress how I expected. To avoid any spoilers I'll keep this brief and say that the necrophilia indications led me to believe the film was going to end very differently than it did. No one can love or hate with more passion than the insane, this is true in this film and true in life. Mary Francis (Trista Robinson) is truly a piece of work and the good Father Vincent (Gary Cairns) should have known better considering what happened to him as a kid. Mary looked a little too similar to the robber for him to be so easily smitten with Mary in my opinion. But then again, there's that "insane" part.

Going Old Testatment on Sinners and Thieves
Oh boy, strap yourself in because Purgatory Road is a wild ride! This film is made much better than most slasher films because of its creative plot and unique characters. There is plenty of blood, but the story will suck you in and keep your attention.Brothers Michael and "Father" Vincent drive the film as they search the countryside for unrepentant (or repentant frankly) sinners, especially thieves, to enact their own form of spiritual justice upon. While Ruby lays in wait, with an equally sinister agenda of her own. The action cranks to a fevered pitch when their paths cross and each character's true potential is realized.Creepy lingering cinematography disrupts the bucolic atmosphere and the music amplifies the tension in the film, without distracting the audience. Solid performances all around and a menacing script create a wonderful film for those who can't get enough scary movies.

Not for the faint of heart in a good way
If you like your horror flicks bloody and bloody good, you will enjoy your stop over at Purgatory Road. Two brothers share a traumatic event in their life, they witness their father's suicide. Hard to overcome that one. What ensures after that is the aftermath and the story plot is true to horror lovers delight with plenty to cringe from. Kuddos to the cast and crew for the production value of this beaut is quite impressive. Lovely cinematography and more than adequate acting for an indie, which is an indie gem I might add. Take a ride on the Purgatory Road, you'll be glad you did.

This movie is not good, nothing about it is good
The acting is abysmal, and that's charitable I felt like the script was being held in front of the actors for them to read off of at times it was so bad. Stilted dialogue, forced facial expressions and nonsensical reactions and body language. The writing makes no attempt to account for the wild shifts in the characters attitudes towards each other, what seems like the end of their association on more than one occasion is turned into nothing having happened in one frame for convenience. The general personality of the characters in the movie tends towards infuriatingly oblivious and stupid. What some reviews are calling good cinematography is just shots that go on far too long for no reason set to generic orchesta/chorus combination scores that I assume are meant to feel epic and impactful but in context fall completely flat every time. If this were a film student project or something I'd be a little bit more lenient, but they clearly spent all of their budget on body parts and gore and none of it on actors that appear semi literate or a script that makes any amount of sense or a director who knows the difference between artistic cinematography and self indulgent, absurd long shots that make no structural sense in context. And for the love of movies can we get an end to the "epic music" score as substitute for emotionally relevant writing? It's not effective, its insulting to the audience and honestly everytime its used the scene would be improved if there were just nothing instead. This movie abuses that cliche to the point of unintentional satire, but at no point did I get the sense that the writing was in any way self aware enough to make it anything but low grade schlock.

God saves!
I really love low budget horror films from the 70s-90s. So I’m maaayyybe a bit biased. But to anyone who enjoys the kind of picks that Joe Bob Briggs would make for the last drive in, this is worth a watch.Fun/modern cinematography. absolutely unlikable leads <3. A priest murdering people for petty crimes in order to keep a freaky ‘castle freak’ like character happy in an old taco truck. Definitely for the midnight movie crowd. You gotta love weird ish like this. Keeps movies fun.
