A family favorite!
This is an absolute favorite in our family. The story is very relatable for kids of various ages (my 6-year-old, 5-year-old, and 2-year-old all adore it). The pictures are truly gorgeous, lovely illustrations of Paris's many beauties -- and hidden in each picture are the items that the little boy in the story keeps losing. My kids had so much fun searching the detailed pictures for each item. The end of the story is heartwarming. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Finely drawn illustrations kept my children intrigued
We initially checked this volume out from the library on the merit of many reviews I had read. As we were not disappointed I now have this precious volume hidden in my closet until xmas morning! As an adult I loved the history and detail integrated into the book, but my children and I read it with equal fascination trying to find all the things Simon drops along the way. Having a boy and girl myself they seemed to appreciate even more that sibling dynamic -- my younger son laughing at Simon's losses and my (older) daughter feeling Adele's exasperation along the way. I highly recommend this book as one to add to you home library to treasure for years.

An unqualified masterpiece...!
I'm a big fan of Barbara McClintock's work, and this is perhaps her finest book to date, a gorgeously detailed romp through Paris in the pre-World War era. Adele and Simon are a sister-brother pair whose afterschool adventures take them to various Parisian landmarks, and along the way Simon loses almost all his school supplies and half his clothes, with Adele, the older sister, desperately trying to maintain some semblance of order. Both the writing and the artwork are of the highest order: this is an intelligent, beautifully rendered children's book -- a real class act. (ReadThatAgain!)

Classic feel in a new title
Beautifully illustrated story about a little girl and her younger brother as they walk home from school. The book has a search and find element that will delight and engage younger readers. One to own for sure! I live the feel of the book, as it reminds me of treasured books that belonged to my parents, despite being a newer title.

Wonderful!!
My 3 year old daughter and I just finished reading this book, and we loved it. The original Adele & Simon is one of our favorites, and I was greatly anticipating the release of their new adventure. The pictures are fantastic, and quite challenging for my daughter to find Simon's lost items. I love the map of the US on the front cover detailing their journey. On every page when they were in a new spot, my daughter would say, "Find it on the map!" We especially enjoyed the page devoted to Boston because of the swan boat and family of ducks which reminded both of us of another of our favorite books, "Make Way for the Ducklings."Thanks for another great book!

... (as a mother of all boys) but I didn't like this book
Maybe I'm too sensitive (as a mother of all boys) but I didn't like this book. I thought Adele had a rude attitude toward her brother (he is forgetful, dumb, small). It over rides the enjoyment of the traveling aspect (the reason I bought it) and I gave the book away. I wish Adele was shown how to love better.

7 Year Old Son Loves It
My son loves the book. Besides the story, the seek and find aspect of finding the missing items make it his favorite. We are expecting another child in Feb 11 and the story is very useful to show how the older sibling has to be patient with the younger. Easily one of our favorite books. I have ordered the second book where they go to America and we are eagerly awaiting it.

So nice picture book for kids.
I would like to say that I must read this book. It is also very interesting to raise the concentration of the child. It is strongly recommended.

Good introduction to Paris for kids
A cute book that takes the reader to some of the more interesting destinations in Paris. Great as a primer for kids traveling there with their parents. The art-work is excellent, and makes for compelling characters. The story could be better written, but it still appeals to 4-6 year olds (if not as much to their parents).
