An easy read .Well written with tales of early Florida and insights into rewards of hard work, fair play, insights into working with others. A really great read for teens as well as all others.

Very well written book. Definitely explains and shows the life of what Florida was before developed. How are Florida cowboys and citrus started in Florida

Historical fiction about old Florida. It was recommended to me by several locals in central Southwest Florida. I recommend a trip to some of the parks like myakka and corkscrew after reading the series.

Pretty good , easy reading . Some insight to Florida history although is fictional.

I look forward to reading this book every year. In the age of the horrific common core standards and its incredibly boring and mind numbing reading, this is actually one piece that my students always look forward to hearing year after year. If you live in FL, it is a a must have as it follows the history of the state. Not sure if someone would like it if they don't live in FL.

This was a book for our book group. It is easy to read and it gives so much history through the eyes of one family who were poor nomads to becoming quite wealthy. How they treasured the land, the nature and how much they suffered. They were very respectful of the Indians who had a hard time with many of the people coming through their territory and even supporting a recently freed slave. Fascinating read. I highly recommend it!

I was reading the book when I was in Florida and it is a great read so as I hadn't finished reading it II should have just ordered volume 2.The book was a hard back that I was in the middle of and didn't want to carry it home as it was so heavy. I will be ordering volume 2 when I get round to it.

I love this book and wished it was longer. It is amazing to read about what Florida was like around the time of the civil war. It's hard to imagine the hardships. It's a fast moving story with lots of adventure and surprizes. The places we know so well today were so different back then, everything was different. Very vivid descriptions that come to life. It shows you how things ended up the way they are today. Loved it!
