The Wild Girls

What a wonderful book for tween girls and their moms! It's a captivating story, well-written, with many important ideas that come up naturally. I read it by myself, and am encouraging my 11-year-old daughter to read it, too.I love how Pat shows how quirky and fun kids can find their own voice, be confident and kind, and make their own path. While the story is set in 1972, it is absolutely relevant today.

I picked this up because I'd read Pat Murphy's science fiction back in the day. Well, this isn't science fiction. This is a coming of age story. But it is a very good one with all the angst and heartbreak of real life and beautiful writing.

A great book! Have been looking for this for 8 years since first reading it in the school library, and its perfect for all ages.

this book can teach you many things. it teaches you to see things from a different point of view. the book captures your heart and changes it. I gave this book a 5 star rating because it has touched my heart very powerfully. I am sad it had to end. I wish this book could go on forever.

Terrific book for the bookish teenage girl in your life. Contains writing tips even an adult writer can use. Explores difficult family relationship themes such as divorce and abandonment in self-empowering ways. I passed it on to one of my nieces who is entering high school and I believe she can use it through her senior year.

Well written. Good for MS/HS kids who feel a little different. Ending feels a little pat though it doesn't avoid the ambiguities of family life.

Good read!

I borrowed the audiobook from our local library for a road trip. After listening intently to the CDs, both my 12- and 14-year-old daughters begged me for a paper version. They love it.

I stumbled across this book in a bookstore in North Conway, NH, where it was presented as a staff‘s choice. I bought it and although I wasn‘t the intended audience (I was 25), I absolutely adored it. The story is simple but written with such elegance, deep thoughts packed in a relatable coming of age story, empowering for young writers and all wild girls. Bought it again as a gift on amazon and it was well received.
