💾 Hybrid power meets speed — never settle for less storage or slowdowns!
The WD WD10S12X SSHD combines a massive 1TB hard drive with a 16GB NAND flash SSD cache, delivering faster boot times and improved performance over traditional HDDs. Its 2.5-inch, 7mm slim design fits laptops and PS4 consoles, while the SATA 6.0Gb/s interface ensures efficient data transfer. With a 5400 RPM spin speed and 16MB buffer, it balances speed, capacity, and quiet operation for professional and gaming needs.

Great product with a great value.
Great product, you fell the difference, as i moved from 1TB 5400RPM, the windows is booting much more faster, and most of the tasks, is fast.It's not a SSD, but for a budget constrain, this is great product for it's value.You have to use WD Boost, to get the benefits of this SSHD.My old HDD Sequential Read : 86.588 MB/s Sequential Write : 87.430 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 30.180 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 50.926 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 0.112 MB/s [ 27.3 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.743 MB/s [ 181.4 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 1.056 MB/s [ 257.8 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 1.305 MB/s [ 318.5 IOPS]SSHD with WD Boost Sequential Read : 152.434 MB/s Sequential Write : 55.546 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 72.854 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 30.775 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 0.948 MB/s [ 231.4 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.564 MB/s [ 137.7 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 3.614 MB/s [ 882.2 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.779 MB/s [ 190.1 IOPS]

I started opening and closing my favorite desktop applications to teach the drive my usage pattern
I first used a SATA / USB cable to copy my laptop's slow HDD, amd then swapped out the drive with this one. I then booted into Windows 8.1 and reactivated it. I then installed the WDBoost application, which is a free download from WD's support website. I then rebooted my machine twice, as required by the WDBoost setup. Once back in Windows, I started opening and closing my favorite desktop applications to teach the drive my usage pattern. I then restarted Windows a few more times. After that, SSHD's flash portion had been initialized, and my computer was MUCH faster. No more lagging on bootup or logging in. Everything is quite responsive and smooth now. My laptop has become enjoyable to work with again, and I didn't have to reinstall Windows! I highly recommend this if you want to give your laptop an inexpensive boost without sacrificing capacity. Note the WDBoost process does consume some RAM. You should have 4 gb of RAM at least to get maximum benefit from this drive. The Seagate SSHD options are more flexible and/or powerful for desktops. Also, Seagate's drives implement the caching algorithms in the firmware, which means their SSHDs don't require Windows to see a performance increase above a standard HDD. I've deducted one star because this SSHD does not support Mac OS X or Linux.

it has works good with good speed
Once it was set up, it has works good with good speed... a bit faster than my old drive. One major criticism... if WD is going to Hybrid... they need to use a 7200 rpm drive with the SSHD rather than a 5400 rpm drive. THEN... The trouble came with the cloning operation. Eventually I had to use Macrium... Western Digital's software is poor... you have to pay to get the cloning feature. The key... ? Do NOT try to load anything on the drive before cloning!! I tried that first since Western Digital would not allow me to clone... and my saved backup failed to work to load all my files from the old drive. BY ALL MEANS CLONE! But use MACRIUM! WD personnel tried to help but I do not think they know how to solve these things. Polite!... but not knowlegable about their own drives.

Fantastic!
Transformed my laptop (Dell 11 3000 i3). I now boot in 13 sec and my commonly used application start almost instantly. One of the best additions I've made to my computers in some time.

I Would Like to Give this 3 Stars ...
I would like to give this 3 stars but I just don't know if I can. It's faster booting up and overall speed is a tad quicker. I have twice the diskspace that I had before so really this is a good 2.5 stars. My recommendation would be to wait for a 24GB SSD or better integration unless your disk is almost full.

Great investment and awesome price
Once I received my 2nd sata cable I was able plug this into my laptop, power it on, and it added the drivers for the second connection. Since it recognized the sshd as a western digital I could download the Data Lifeguard and True Image software from the WD website, migrate my data, and turn this into my primary drive. My laptop boots up a lot faster and the migration kept me going as if i never did anything to it. Great investment and awesome price!!!!

Might be good buy or NOT?
Large capacity, easy to install. Reinstalling windows seems recommended and installing Windows 7 Pro consumes a lot of time due to numerous upgrades required. The price seems cheap compared to a large SSD drive but things generally run much slower till WD Boost is installed. Some programs like Itunes won't open and run now. Some programs like Norton scan still seem much slower but this might relate to nature of the hybrid drive. Backup programs seem unable to make a backup copy disk image, probably again due to how the hybrid drive seems to function. Scans of drive reveal no problems in files on the drive or malware that accounts for erratic performance so at this point I am still uncertain if the drive is a good deal or bad buy. If I get everything working well on it and see some performance increase, it will be become a great buy. If not it might become an unreliable external backup drive or expensive mistake after removal from my laptop. It was pulled due to overall erratic performance and will be tried as a backup external hard drive. it seemed to boot up fine but some other programs besides Itunes ran much slower so I dropped it to two stars. I suspect it will end up in junk drawer with other non used surplus parts.

The Drive speeds up after a few weeks. I have two installed in laptops and the offer lots of storage space. They are almost as fast as a SSD. Make sure that you download the software from the WD website to take full advantage of the Hard Drive.
