TruMedic TENS Electronic Pulse Unit & 4 Electrode Pads - For Muscle Stiffness, Soreness, Aches & Pains, Perfect for Relaxing Tight Muscles & Nerves for Electrotherapy Pain Management (PL-009)

My significant other had been having problems with foot pain and her podiatrist apparently wrote a prescription for a TENS unit. Which we didn't know about until we started getting bombarded with calls from the company selling the thing. Can you say sales commission? 2-3 phone calls a day sometimes. After we finally figured out what the salesperson was selling, I looked it up on Amazon and whoa!, that unit cost about $300. Or, as I eventually found out, $250 for the insurance company or, if not insured - $25/month for 10 months.Okay, since I don't frequent PT's or chiropractors, I didn't have a clue what a TENS unit is. But just below the expensive unit on Amazon.com, there was this truMedic TENS unit for just under $40. So, well, why not give the cheap one a try? After all, I've had a rotator cuff injury since 1989 that doesn't know how to completely go away. It's one of those things where, if you are not careful, your arm follows the ball over the net when you are serving. Well, at least that's how it feels. Plus I was having a bout of tendinitis on my right forearm unrelated to tennis, more of an RSI thing.Where was I? Well, I ordered the thing after reading myriad reviews, both pro and con. The unit arrived within days and I tried it.Simply put, it works!!! I had my muscles doing the happy, healing dance in no time! After I figured out how to turn the thing on, that is. It seems to require you to turn the unit off, then on and select a program and the power intensity. The one time I set the intensity too high I was surprised at the power of the unit, and hurriedly reached for the control with the arm that wasn't helplessly flailing painfully in time to the beat. A bit of hyperbole, but you do have to be careful with the intensity level.To answer a few questions that I had.Does it actually work? Yes. It massages the muscles with varying patterns. You can actually see your muscles contracting and relaxing - the happy, healing electro-convulsive dance.Is it powerful enough? Yes. The intensity level goes up to 10. I can only take about a 4, sometimes a 5.How much control do you have over the settings? You have control over the power intensity from 1-10. You can control the speed a bit, + or -. You have a choice of massage, knead, or beat. Your have 5 presets (back, shoulder, joint, hand-leg, sole) for auto procedures which mix the massage settings in a pattern for 15 minutes, plus a repeat button to continue the current process within the preset. You cannot select the wave form or the massage pattern other than through the presets. Or so I think. Now that I've been using the thing for a while, I'll go back through the manual again and see if there is anything germane to this. But I'm happy just experimenting with using different preset patterns, wherever I attach the electrodes.So I've had it for about five days now. My rotator cuff and tendinitis pain are both pretty much gone. I have to do some stretching and light weights eventually to keep them on the mend.I have only been using two electrodes at a time. Later today, I will try using the four electrodes at the same time. Other reviews suggest that this will cause the power intensity to drop. Maybe, in a few days, I will update this review with additional findings.I would certainly recommend this unit. It seems to work really well at an affordable cost.

I looked at a lot of TENs units because I was not aware that such a thing could be purchased on the open market. I wrongly assumed that you would need a prescription for something like this, and that it would be something large and expensive. Well, in Target one day, I happened upon an Omron unit that they carried on the shelf that I purchased for my wife, who suffers from debilitating pain in her back and legs that have her taking strong pain pills at night, which often cause her stomach issues. The unit from Target worked fairly well, so I decided to look further into these units and see if there was something even better. Well, I definitely found it, and this unit, from TruCore, was clearly THE product. First, the product from Target had 2 electrodes (the pads that stick to the skin and provide the current to the location of pain on the body). I decide that, if 2 electrodes were good, 4 would be better. Secondly, the TruCore product offered a variety of pain relief settings and intensities. Third, the TruCore unit came with a second set of 4 electrodes, for a total of 8 electrodes. My wife started using it as soon as we received it and it has changed her life! Truly! The use of pain pills has diminished in a major way, and she is so enjoying the pain relief of this unit that she feels like a new woman! I highly recommend this life-changing unit! And this price of relief is hard to beat!I will also commend the seller (TruCore), which sent the unit very quickly. Additionally, when I received the unit I mistakenly thought the package was missing and item that I thought was supposed to be included "for a limited time". My call was at about 6 PM, but the phone was answered in 2 rings by a very nice man. After explaining my issue, the gentleman very nicely explained that he thought I was mistaken and had confused this item for the second set of bonus electrodes (explained above). However, he said that he would gladly send me that additional item. He also assured me that he wanted to know how my wife felt when she used the unit and was fairly sure it would serve its purpose. I was very pleased and gave him my information. I then checked the Amazon description again and found that the gentleman was correct and I had miss-understood what was said in the Amazon description. Feeling guilty, I called back around 7 PM, spoke to the same individual, and apologized for my mistake. The man thanked me for calling and then said he would still be happy to send this additional item to me! Now, that is first class customer service! So, kudos for TruCore who provided first rate customer service on a first rate product that make me proud and feeling like (with a LOT of help from TruCore's TENS unit) I have done more to help her with her pain than a team of doctors have accomplished for 30 years!

This thing is fantastic. Though it takes a while to set up every time. It is totally worth it. I use it with a heating pad on also, and it’s the only way I have gotten relief with a nagging back problem that causes nerves to be pinched often. And I’ve tried anything and everything. Including prescribed pain pills and muscle relaxers, which I hate taking anyway. None of it gave me any relief. Until this. Love it. The only drawback is, it only stays on for 15 minutes. There is a repeat button but it does absolutely nothing. If this feature worked, or it stayed on longer, I wouldn’t have much of a complaint. You have to turn both sides completely off. Turn it back on again, adjust the intensity again and select the program mode again. It’s frustrating. I may move on to another brand. I’m looking at one that stays on for 80 minutes. It also has 8 pads instead of 4, so it’s looking better and better to me. Better price too. I’m just trying to decide whether I can justify buying it right now because my financial situation is not good, and I’m watching every penny. Going to discuss with my husband and see what he thinks! But despite everything, this does give the most relief!

We used to have one of these in the States to help us with recovery. Several of our doctors there always suggested we use these and they really help. They don't seem as popular here in Spain. But we got this and it's been really helpful.

Love it! For the price it does the trick when I am at work.

Seems very good and easy to use. Having only been using for a couple of weeks but impressed so far.

I have a bad back and sore legs and I find the tens machine works great for me.
