Famous Illustrator Unique Traditional Advent Calendar - Designed in England - Festive Scene at a Cathedral

Our family loves the traditional look to the picture. The size is nice & large - approximately 16.5 inches x 11.75. The numbers being red helps the smaller children find them when it's their turn to open a window. Seems to be a high quality card stock but only time will tell. It arrived inside a cellophane sleeve & was shipped in a large box with the now ubiquitous "air bags" for cushioning but one corner was still slightly bent.I subtract one star due to cost (seems pricey at $12 - Vermont Christmas Co are about half the cost & have chocolates as well) and one star also because there is no picture hook attachment to hang it from a wall. We are using a clipboard and 3M command hook for now. (See photo.)I will update my review as Advent proceeds & we get to see the pictures behind the windows.

I order advent calendars every year. This one was very special. My second favorite after the one that shows the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which doesn't seem to be available any more.

Love this artists's work and it came quite quickly, so I'm set for the season.

This is my first advent calendar and I am happy that I chose the cathedral. The pictures behind the windows are very traditional. If I have a complaint I find the Windows difficult to open with just your fingers. I use the point of a sharp knife. I will be purchasing a calendar every year.

We were very pleasantly surprised with this calendar. We've always had German ones before, but they seem to be getting hard to find. Most of the calendars we looked at had a set of rectangular squares to open, set in some plain pattern. Not this one. Each window is shaped as the window of the cathedral, and the little pictures behind them are very traditional, just as we like them.

The calendar itself is beautiful and my granddaughter eagerly searched for the window to open each day. Sometimes for a five year old, they were difficult to find. The reason for giving it only three stars is that there was no way to hang it on a wall or to stand it up on furniture (photo frame style).

Calendar is nice but not as detailed as I would have hoped for. Nice large size and thick paper/cardstock. Windows can easily be shut to be used in other years. There were however only 24 windows and the detail inside the windows were pretty boring and lacking. The picture on the calendar is also nice but again lacking in detail.

I am going to hang this calendar up at work (parish secretary) and let everyone enjoy it with me.

Really enjoyed this calendar... it was lovely picture of Cathedral with snow scene. The pictures behind the windows were good and lots had a religious theme which is what I wanted... so there were the Magi.... Camels... Angels... as well as more traditional things like xmas pudding, robin, wreath etc.
