Very good iron
It heats up fast and works very well. The led lights don't really add much light.

Works great
I've been using this soldering iron for quite some time for electronics work and I've had no issues with it as of yet. The LED lighting in the handle is very nice for giving off some extra light when working on delicate components that are harder to see due to their size. It is a bit difficult to find replacement tips however, as I found out when lost one of them down a crack when it fell out after cooling. The included solder is a bit useless as there is so little of it, but I have several rolls anyways so it's of no importance in my case. The rubberized handle gives a great grip and I've had no issues with the handle getting too hot even after using it for an extended period of time. The included cable is too short to reach my workstations, so I'd recommend getting a heavy duty (read: not the cheap ones from the dollar store) extension cord to extend the reach of the soldering iron. It is a high wattage iron for electronics that can sometimes be a little too hot for sensitive PCB, so you need to very quickly solder the components on in order to keep it from burning the PCB.

Affordable, but not for prolonged use
Pros:- Affordable- LEDs to help see what you are soldering- Usual multiple set of different tips- Easy to set upCons:- Feels cheap- No temperature control (when it's on, it's on)- Stand is a literally piece of bent metal (22 ga. steel I think) and makes iron not truly stable.(Has fallen several times now and burned a few things)If this is your first soldering iron, you won't be upset. Or if you need an affordable one that you might use once or twice a year. The LEDs are a little bit of a gimmick, but I honestly wished more irons had them. That being said, it should not be used for extensive amounts of time and an additional stand should be used if you plan on doing so.Recommended:Beginners, or the Occasional Intermediate use.(Keep in mind lack of temp. control and feeling cheap. It "gets the job done".)

For a beginner, this was a great soldering iron to start with.
I bought this to use on my jewelry and so far it works great. I use some silver solder to attach wires to pieces and attach pieces to each other. I'm still learning how to solder so I'll update this when I know more, but a friend recommended this Weller soldering iron and it works great for my needs. I like that it has flat edges around the middle so you can set it down and not worry about the tip touching your surface or the iron rolling away. It's easy to hold on to and the extra tips are a big plus. The only thing is I wish the cord were just a bit longer, but I can get an extension cord to fix that. Overall, very happy with this.

Smokin'
I am new to soldering so I bought a $10 iron and had problems getting it to 'wet' from day one. I ordered this one thinking that if I mess up a tip I can replace just the tip. Haven't had to. From day one this iron worked great. The only complaint I have for this iron is that it feels like it gets too hot. I started unplugging it in between component placing. I have since wired a dimmer switch and outlet box to plug the iron into. With the dimmer switch on half way I can leave it plugged in through the whole job. Excellent iron but I have no idea how to use the black stick tool that came with it. I have been using it for through hole components.

Weller soldering iron 40 watts
Excellent heat quality used it to solder 14awg wire onto a 12v car adapter. Heated up to full temp in 90 seconds, maintained temperature when soldering. Worth the few extra dollars. Heavy duty tips made well. I have used the 5.00 cheap soldering irons and they do not produce enough heat to melt solder unless you give them 4 min to heat up and the heat dissipates rapidly if soldering anything larger then micro connections. This is a true 40-watt iron like they used to be made 20 years ago. Stay away from the cheap kits for 5.99 or similar.
