230 volt wiring notice!!
IMPORTANT WIRING INFO FIRST: I like this saw very much BUT MY MANUAL CAME WITH AN INCORRECT DIAGRAM FOR WIRING TO 230 VOLTS!! It might be a waste of time to switch this to 230 volts, but if you choose to do so READ THIS. I don't know if all of the manuals have this misprint, but in my manual, on page 30 it shows to connect wires 1 and 2 with the white wire and wires 3 and 4 with black wire on the motor. This is NOT correct. I didn't do it so I can't tell you what will happen when wired like this, but I just got off the phone with Jet tech and it is confirmed that this in NOT correct. If you are converting to 230 Volts the CORRECT way is shown, at least in my manual, on page 11. The CORRECT way is to connect wires 2 and 3 together on the motor, then connect the white wire(which will be a hot wire, not a neutral, in a 230v setup) to wire 1 on the motor. Then connect the black wire(the other hot in a 230v setup) to wire 4 on the motor. Keep in mind that when wiring this for 230v you will have to get an approved 230v plug which will have two hot wires and a ground, NO NEUTRAL IS USED in this 230 volt setup, the white is changed to a hot for 230 volts.MY REVIEW: The bandsaw is great so far. I have only had it for a couple weeks, but I am a very happy customer. It arrived quickly through amazon super saver shipping, and in perfect condition. Put it together, tuned it up, ADDED THE OPTIONAL FENCE I PURCHASED SEPERATELY WHICH IS SHOWN BUT NOT INCLUDED WITH THE BANDSAW, and was very pleased with the cutting. The unit is a bit heavy for one person to set up on the base. I was able to lift the unit onto the base which was about 200lbs, but it wasn't much fun, get a buddy to help if you can. I have only used the provided blade, which is probably junk and still does fairly well. Can't wait to put the timberwolf blades I have on this. The fine tuning of the guides is a bit unrefined, but still works well with a little time and effort. I was cutting eigth inch veneers in no time and they are very accurate. Tensioning and tracking the blade was simple. I will try to update as I get some real time on this machine, but for now it truely deserves the five stars I gave it. Just don't wire it wrong!!

Excellent Quality Saw
I purchased this saw from Amazon along with the Kreg fence and the "Bandsaw Book" by Lonnie Bird. Although the owners manual gives basic information for set up, the Bandsaw book picks up where the manual leaves off. It helps you fine tune your saw and gives many helpful tips. The saw was perfect right out of the box, but you will need several people to help since it is very heavy. It already comes with a 3/8" blade (not mentioned in the on-line specs), so I purchased two Olson blades along with it. Thus far, I have not experienced any significant issues with drift. I purchased this specific saw because it already had a 12" resaw capability without adding any riser blocks. The taller frame is a cast iron truss pattern making this a very solid saw.The saw is very well balanced with no vibrations and as such is very quiet. You can barely hear it running by itself and can't hear it at all when you have a dust collector attached to it. So be careful to visually make sure the saw has stopped before reaching in to grab the piece you just cut.You won't go wrong by purchasing this saw. It is a very high quality saw and a good value for the price paid.

Good Build Quality - Accurate Cuts - Some Design Issues
A decent, capable bandsaw. Build quality is good. Most features are beefy and well made. The cabinet is top quality. The machine doors/hinges are a little light weight but adequate to the task. The built-in 'extended' height was the tipping factor for my purchase. A couple design features I believe could be improved. The blade tightening system is not too well designed. The little knob at the top of the machine can reek havoc on your hands and wrist when going for high tension. The nut and screw system is a little confusing for straightening the guide arm. The built-in scale on the unit is of no use. I found it to be not accurate. I use Timber Wolf blades and visually tension to get the most stable blade action. The access to the lower bearing guide is made for small hands. The base cabinet is very nice. The solid cast armature of the saw seems beefy and stable. However when the machine is running (or when not) there is a bit of vibration that just shouldn't be there on a machine like this. You can press towards the top of the machine and it will spring back and forth (to a small degree) like a whip antenna. I don't see it at all affecting the quality of the cut but it lowers my admiration for the machine. With all that said, I am achieving very high quality, accurate cuts. Re-sawing thin, wafer-like slabs without drift works amazingly well on this machine. I've incorporated the Woodhaven fence to get extremely accurate, stable cuts. Overall it's been a very good, affordable machine. It arrived in two boxes on a pallet. The base in one box and the whole unit, with motor attached in another (heavy) box. A cinch to put together, using the box/styrofoam as leverage.
