I love everything about these except for the fact that the lids are slightly too small to fit on the trays so you just kind of have to balance the lids on. Otherwise they are a good value for money.

These little trays work great. I bought to plant my bonsai seeds, as these are big enough leave the tree in for a while allowing the roots to grow and get stable before you have to re-pot. The water drains nicely to the bottom. But, the lids do not snap on to the bottoms and tend to be a pain to keep on if you are working around them with other planters. But they do serve their purpose and are large enough to keep plants for a while before replanting.

I appreciate the sturdiness and the large cell design is better for many seed types. I can go from seed to planting outside with no intermediate pot sizes.

I'm reviewing this as though I bought it at its current price (25 usd as of 4-6-20).The trays don't conform to standard 6 cell tray dimensions--they're a little shorter, almost as though they were designed for 1 sq. inch rockwool instead of soil. So you'll need to transplant out sooner than you might with regular six-cell trays.The idea of a base and dome around the seed tray is cute and seems to work well for germination. The dome is very flimsy, though, and the vents only kinda work if you can fit the vent selector spinner into the malformed selector circle. This is the weakest point of the product. If you leave the cells in the tray too long the roots may grow out below the cells and cause transplant shock when potting up due to root damage when pulling the roots out of the tray, so be cautious.I paid 16 usd for the 10, and that was a good deal. At time of writing it's sitting at 25 usd, which is about where I'd say the price basically evens out with the value. I don't think I'd pay more for this than 25, but at 25 I'd be mostly satisfied. At 20 usd I would be happier.

I've been an avid gardener for many years and until we downsized to a south Philly row home I used the "full size" trays every year to start dozens of plants. This year I've scaled down to a large container system (the VegTrug) and several pots of various sizes. So with room for maybe a dozen plants rather than 40 or 50, these little trays are a perfect downsize move.In terms of construction, they're about the same as the big trays, though the clear plastic domes are a little thinner. They have a couple advantages however: 1) They come in 3 parts, an outer tray, the inner segmented tray and the clear lid. This provides a "self watering" ability and eliminates the need to locate them where spills and leaks might do damage 2) The clear lids are vented, so you don't end up with overly damp soil during the first few weeks when seeds are germinating.In terms of size, 3 of these trays will fit neatly on a typical warming mat, though I'll probably only use 2 this year. Inexpensive LED Grow Lights like this one on Amazon ( https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FKF6BT4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) handily replace the bulky 4 ft. fluorescent fixtures I used to use.

Lids and base are not sized right and do not fit. One of the bottom trays fell apart with just a little bit of messing around with trying to put the lid on that doesn't fit. Idea is great but poor quality and design.

This is an amazing set to start your seeds. As I said, they have thought of everything. It’s perfect for the beginner Gardner, but even advanced gardeners like myself will love this set. Do we have any other? Everything but the seeds and the dirt are included

I am using this product to germinate seeds. The 3 part sets of seed tray, drip tray and vented clear cover are exactly what I wanted. They are designed to be disposable but are entirely sufficient. I want buyers to know that the company provides excellent response if there is any problem. My set of 10 trays was missing some seed trays. I'd already put soil in 3 so didn't feel I could return the item. I contacted the company directly and I received a reply that night. The customer service rep was courteous and helpful. They had a replacement package mailed to me within a few days. Sometimes issues like a missing part arise; what makes a huge difference to me is how that issue is handled. I will buy from this company again without hesitation.

They look much bigger in picture than they are. Material feels very cheap and low quality with unpleasant plastic smell, which gives headaches. The lid doesn’t fit well thus can close properly, so kind of useless. Won’t purchase again.

A bit on the flimsy side. The lids didn't fit quite right and kept popping off the tray, this might correct itself once they have been unpackaged for a while. The dome has vent holes which are regulated by a slot in the seperate vent cover disc. However, the vent disc is not attached and just sits there, making for an unpleasant feel and the discs can be lost very easily. Not a good design. Overall, not good but not bad but it will get the job done well for the price.

The item was delivered the next day and was totally unexpected. The item is exactly what I expected. In previous posts, people complained that the lids do not securely attach or snap in place but mine did attach to the white base securely. There is adjustable ventilation on top. The quality is good and what I expected. For the value, I got 10 of these. If this works out in the Spring for me, I'll definitely come back for more. Because I'm new to gardening I'm not sure how much water I'll need since it has the lid with ventilation but I suppose I will learn and find out. Overall, I am surprised I found this unit, it fits nicely where I need it to sit. Thanks for the fast delivery and great product.

I bought these to start seedlings in a greenhouse like environment under grow lights. Having read prior feedback, I immediately understood the issue that others had mentioned in regards to the top not fitting. The design problem is not due to the top, it is actually the white water tray at the bottom that essentially makes it impossible to keep the top on properly as is. However, the easy solve is to cut the white tray with a strong set of scissors so it fits under the black cells without sticking out further. Once I did this, the top fit on perfectly. I planted pepper seeds in seedling starter mix and they have already started to pop up after 7 days! Note that I was also using a heat mat briefly to warm up the soil from below. However, the greenhouse is what kept the environment warm and moist which is essential for vegetables like peppers. If not for the minor design flaw, this seed tray pack would certainly get a 5 star rating for sure due to value. In light of the design error, I will give it a 4 star rating but certainly recommend to anyone wanting to create an ideal seed starting environment.

They are durable for the short time you use them in the spring. Adequate for my needs. The vents in the top are a good idea and as some mentioned not all of them are secure but they do sit in somewhat. The trays underneath are great for collecting the excess water. Not disapponted.
