Tony Chachere's No Salt Seasoning Blend, 5 Ounce Shaker (Pack of 2)

Dietary changes can be made to offset genetics: cut salt, fat, sugar and highly processed foods. I was told to change my diet after developing hypertension due to a lifetime of eating highly flavored and salty food. You wouldn't believe how high my pressure went up after visiting NOLA and starting to cook Cajun and Creole food at home! What's great about this mix is I can cook great tasting food without killing people with all that salt that's usually in spice mix. I also switched to soaking dried beans instead of canned for my rice, which cuts down on sodium. I don't use salt at all now and with this spice mix, I don't miss it.

First things first : There is no legitimate flavor substitute for Salt. However, if you're wanting to reduce your salt intake while avoiding bland salt-free food, "Tony Chachere's No Salt Seasoning Blend" is a flavorful addition to your cooking and dining routine. Compared to Tony Chachere's regular seasoning blend, this "No Salt" seasoning blend is flatter on the palate and has a reduced heat profile. The flavors of this blend are best extracted during cooking, but are still compelling as a table-top condiment. The powdered texture is like a "dry rub", so, moisture aids the blend's complex flavors to synergize. We use this liberally, so, two 5oz shakers of "No salt" will probably last us as long as a single 5oz shaker of the normal salted blend. My rating is 5/5 based on comparisons to other NO SALT seasoning blends I have experienced.

It's creole seasoning, so if you use it on gumbo, red beans and rice, & other cajun & creole home cooking, it's wonderful -- the food is probably salty enough to begin with, anyway. Eggs and sandwiches? Sure. Probably would make an awesome po'boy. It's not meant for popcorn or anything like that. Think Cajun & Creole food. Look at the illustration on the label and use as intended, like Tabasco. Tony Chachere's is a trusted southern Louisiana brand since I was a little boy. Got diagnosed with a little bit of high cholesterol. My loving wife, before it becomes an issue changed my whole diet. I was really happy with this product, because of the no salt. Of course not as much flavor as the original, but very comparable. If you’re looking to help lower your cholesterol, and eat a bit more healthy. This is a great alternative.

I'm not a big "heat" person but adding this to soup or stews just gives it enough to make it better and adds that missing something you sometimes have in food or a great change of pace. If you want more heat and no salt then just add a little more. I even pressure cook my shrimp with this on top and it seems to infuse it with the taste.

For being a salt free seasoning flavor is amazing, I don't even miss the salt. I was able to get the extra kick my meals needed in a healthier way.

Great seasoning without salt. Most of the seasoning that you can get in the grocery store have loads of salt already incorporated into the seasoning which makes cooking a little difficult.
