Tried them all and scalibor works great!!
I have two 25lb dogs who roam my fenced in three acres freely. Throughout the summer and on seasonable days the dogs are outside whenever they want. I have lawn, wooded areas and wetlands on my property and being in Connecticut, we are the home of Lyme Disease so deer ticks and dog ticks are quite the problem. Having had one dog have Lyme disease I've seen the adverse effects. Also new tick diseases are emerging in my area including babeosis. I also hike and camp fairly frequently and have had far too many instances driving home and looking over to see a tick crawling on my dogs face, or worse, that time I found on while I was driving in my arm. Yeah.I'm also one of those people who prefers to keep it natural with my dogs. I feed raw, I don't give heartworm (unless we travel to an area with a high chance of transmission). My dogs are tested annually and neither have heartworm - do your reading! Depending on your area and climate, you may not actually need it!!! So I have a moral dilemma with dosing my dog with insecticides. Wether orally, topically or like this collar. But when it comes down to it, Lyme disease, erlichiosis and babeosis are serious. And ticks don't just like my dogs; they like me too. So I made the decision to use a tick preventative. Now I've tried them all! I've tried frontline and found it to be ineffective...perhaps the new formulation is better. I've tried the seresto collar which cost me about $80 at the vet, but lasts 8 months. That worked perfectly. I tried the scalibor collar, also worked perfectly. I've tried vecta 3D. Worked for one, the other had a severe reaction and is allergic apparently to the active ingredient in that (pyrethroids I believe). I also tried Nexgard for one, the pill. Worked fine, but is a pain to remember to give them every month. So now I'm back to scalibor. Most cost effective and easiest way to ensure tick prevention. Of course with every preventative some dogs will have adverse reactions, and hopefully yours won't be one of them.

Recommended for large dogs
I do not take loading your pet with pesticides lightly...I do not do heartworm meds year-round nor preventative flea treatment. However, we have serious tick issues around my home. Family members over the past decade have regularly found ticks imbedded and crawling on them. Some of these are undoubtedly due to transfer from our dog who enjoys using the furniture as much as the rest of us. At last April's annual health checkup, our vet recommended this collar. We left in on Bowie for the entire 6 months (he is a large dog...close to 100 lbs); it is the first time in many years that we were not tick-picking regularly. Last summer and fall was tick-free at our home. Bowie had no adverse reactions to the collar. I hope to have the same positive results this year. Once again, I am not happy with the constant pesticides on my pup, but feel that, overall, it is the lesser of 2 evils.

Great for tick-infested areas
I live in a highly tick-infested area near Van Cortlandt Park in NYC and faithfully use Revolution topical flea/heartworm/etc. preventative on my rescued Irish Setter mix -- but was still removing at least one tick per day, even in the winter.I hesitate to add extra chemicals to the body of my beloved (but elderly) best friend, so last year I bought the Preventic anti-tick collar out of sheer desperation. It worked extremely well for 3 months but for some reason is no longer available. When the collar wore out, and with constant tick problems again, I searched for any professional information online about another product that was safe to use with Revolution.I finally found Scalibor listed in several European scientific studies. I highly recommend it. Not only has it completely eliminated the tick problem, my girl has experienced no side effects at all while using it with her usual spot-on medication. It seems to be a European product that was only recently introduced to the US, but I'm glad it's here and strongly recommend it to other former Preventic users or those in tick-infested areas. Good luck!

terrible product that the sellers DO NOT stand behind!
If I could give this a zero I would! Had on my dog's for less than 4 months, and they both had fleas and ticks! They wear it all the time, and now I'm finding myself buying flea bombs to get rid of fleas that are in my carpet because they were infested with fleas! Don't be fooled by the little bit cheaper that it is, go with a Seresto collar, I have used them here's in the past and figured I would give this a try because it is a little bit cheaper. Highly disappointed, and when I emailed to try and get a refund they said no without even hesitating or asking! Will tell everyone I can as much as I can to not purchase these!

Much Safer than Drops/Gels
Have been buying this for my dog for a couple of years now. Seems to work well. No sign of ticks or fleas. Gave up on the drops that get rubbed into the skin. Tried them once. My dog ended up licking her skins and became violently ill. Switched to this collar/band and everything has been fine.
