PUNK IS COMING!By the end of 1973, New York City was bankrupt, Watergate had compromised the credibility of the U.S. government, and the Carpenters were the best-selling young recording act in America. Rock n roll was dead!Enter Hilly Kristal, who dreamed of running a country & blues bar in the Bowery. Instead, the club he opened, CBGB (Country, Bluegrass, Blues) became the birthplace of punk and underground music. CBGB was the modern-day salon for the disenfranchised youth of New York City and Kristal gave these young local bands a stage. Artists such as the Talking Heads, Blondie, Patti Smith, Ramones, Dead Boys and Television all started at this iconic club.The story of Hilly Kristal and his legendary club will be coming to theaters this October when CBGB hits the big screen. The film has an all-star ensemble cast headed by Alan Rickman (the Harry Potter series, Die Hard) who plays Kristal. Co-starring with Rickman will be Malin Akerman (The Proposal, Suburgatory), Ryan Hurst (Sons Of Anarchy), Ashley Greene (The Twilight series), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Stana Katic (Castle) and Rupert Grint (the Harry Potter series).Omnivore Recordings is proud to present CBGB: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD. but at least I had the chance to experience what it was like to be inside
I was at CBGB's in '81. A long time ago. A Lancaster,Pa group was playing there called The Sharks. What a dump. If I dropped a twenty dollar bill on the floor, I never would have picked it up. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to see all the bands that played there before, but at least I had the chance to experience what it was like to be inside. The Sharks were great that night, and so is this DVD

CBGB RIP.
Its nice to know the early punk rock has made its mark on society. Most of the songs here are not the versions you would have hear if you were lucky enough to have been their. That said the music was good and worth the price if you don't go with out paying the rent just to buy it.

Nice punk compilation. I liked the movie a lot but I love the soundtrack. If you are unfamiliar with punk this is a nice place to start. If you are a long time fan this is essential.

Nice Collection
Nice group of tracks from an amazing era, I really loved it!!! Of course you probabilly have heard it before, but, it is a perfect celebration of CBGB!!! Listen and enjoy It!

schwer enttäuscht
ich liebe diesen Film so sehr das ich ihn 17 mal gesehen habe und ich immernoch Gänzehaut bekomme . Deshalb habe ich mir den soundtrack dazu geholt, von dem ich aber sehr enttäuscht bin. Es fehlen einige der besten Lieder vom Film und sind dafür Lieder drauf die im Film gar nicht vorkommen. Auf der CD sind die Lieder original und nicht wie im Film. Wenn ich mir ein soundtrack bestelle erwarte ich die Lieder wie im Film. Im Film singt Iggl Pop mit Blondi zusammen. Auf der CD ist nur das Orginal ohne Blondi. Wenn ich das original wollte würde ich mir das Orginal kaufen. Hier wollte ich aber den soundtrack .....super Lieder Schöne CD aber nicht das was es verspricht

As I was 13 when this music came out , it influenced my life greatly . The movie was brilliant especially Alan Rickman
