Astro Pneumatic Tool 1450 13" Plusnut and Extra-Long Rivet Nut Setter Kit Metric & SAE

This tool is excellent. I installed dozens of M6 and M8 Rivnuts in both mild steel and stainless steel types. It is very important to adjust the mandrel position and depth and to be gentle with the exceptional leverage that this tool provides.

I bought this set instead of the regular 13” set because it came with more mandrels and they were the long kind. The long mandrels work fine with regular sized rivnuts. I actually needed a M4 so I had to buy the cheap knock off version for $10 on Amazon of course. This set does not come with any rivnuts unlike the regular set. I used it on a Harbor Freight sand blast cabinet with M4 rivnuts installed using this tool (and the M4 mandrel i brought separately). Just go easy, you can always reattach and pull again. You can’t put back together a broken mandrel.

I installed many rivet nuts with this tool on an RV van build. It works, but I wished I had purchased higher quality. The only difficulty I had was being lazy or impatient. I used a driver drill to remove the setting screw and the riverter fell apart. This slowed me down rather than making it faster.

Works well. Careful not to torque 5he handles with all your weight, you can break it, and you dont need that kind of force. Work the expansion in a few steps for best grip (using on my van conversion). If using plus nuts, I squirt some PL glue in first so the next day they are less likely to spin out. Riv nuts spin out less than plus nuts.

Works phenomenally well for stainless 1/4 20 Plus Nuts, even without the pre-bulb. I had to fit 28 of these into 1” x 1/8” wall tube steel. I had read that these nuts require a lot of force to install, I’m happy to report that the Astro 1450 Plusnut tool is quite adequate for the task. The plus nut is actually longer than the ID of the tube steel I was installing in, before crimping. During the crimp, of course the plus nut gets shorter, so it still worked quite easily. I have not put a load on these yet, if there is an issue, I will update this review.

First of all, I ordered and paid the price for a new tool but this has clearly been used before so black mark against Amazon for that. Second, I find the instructions not helpful - written as tho I already know how to use it. Probably once you figure it out it's fine. I'm falling back on the DIY method of bolt, washers, nut, 2 wrenches which seems to be simple and work well so far. Pretty disappointed in having used fobbed off on me and my frustration level at not being able to dive into my project I need to get done.

Astro Pnuematic, plus nut tool arrived very fast. I was happy about that because I could get right into my project. It came with instructions and was easy to use. It did give me a workout, when pressing the handles together to secure plus nuts; but I liked that you could reduce tension and apply pressure little by little to secure plus nut. Meaning, you don’t have to get it in one or two presses, you can press more with less tension and still get a secure fit of the plus nut. Over all great tool, worth every penny.

This thing is very robust and reliable. It is far stronger than it needs to be and you have to be aware that you could pull the plus nut threads right out of the hole if you're not careful. The only knock is that on a single pull you are unlikely to draw the nut completely up, and will have to make a second partial pull. Very small gripe.

Es muy buena, lo único es su caja o estuche. Parece un estuche de una marca corriente o como decimos en México, parece china. Su estuche es de muy mala calidad. Pero repito la herramienta es muy buena.
