Fee Brothers Falernum Cocktail Mixer: 32 oz

Good version, great for Test Pilots
Falernum is supposedly a type of Italian wine, but this stuff has nothing to do with that. It's a sort of bitters used in making cocktails, particularly test pilots. The recipes for falernum call for lime peel, but we have no idea how they make this, but it doesn't matter. It has the right slightly musty taste and mixes nicely with the lime juice and rum. (That's how we make our Test Pilots using Beach Bum Barry's recipe.)Falernum is surprisingly hard to find around here in Seattle. DaVinci, the local outfit that makes all those flavorings for coffee (e.g. hazelnut, passion fruit, vanilla) stopped making falernum a while back, so we had to scramble. DaVinci explained that there just wasn't enough demand, perhaps because it would taste completely awful in coffee. Luckily, the Fee Brothers make a great falernum. Give it a try at your next tiki party.

Tiki bar staple
Fee Brothers nail the summer tiki staple (a more flavorful simple syrup) often used in fruity drinks. Makes fine zombies, hurricanes and various other tiki style drinks. For fruity summer drinks this stuff is at least as good as falnurum from I've made from scratch (and cheaper when you add up all the time and ingredients). In drinks that ask for a winter falnurum (which is usually darker with a more mollasas flavor) this is not what you're looking for, but can be used as a substittue in a pinch.Unsure what to do with it? Try my curried tequilia receipe:1 agave tequilia blanco1 falernum.5 cynar.5 lime juicemint spring and LARGE ice

Unusual flavor, lemony, sweet, thick.
We like the thickness and the depth of the lemony flavor. We've tried it in several drinks and it always beats any lemon additive we have tried. We use it every Halloween in our Spider Blood Punch which we have been serving for over 40 years.

Great Mixer
I've been looking for this product locally for quite some time and had feared I'd have to wait until my next trip to the Bahamas to get it and then I found it on Amazon! Great service in how quickly it was shipped, but there was one small problem. The bottle was leeking. It seemed to be sealed appropriately, but the wrappings were wet and sticky.

Gloppy and unappealing
Flavored corn syrup which was disappointing

Delicious and Essential for Tiki Drinks
I've tried using a few brands of falernum, but nothing comes close to this. I love mixing cocktails, and I always keep Fee brothers in my bar.

This is not the Taylors Velvet Falernum Recipe
I expected the bottles of the falernum to be spicier with the flavors of cloves and almonds, This products recipe is lacking these spices. What this is, is a lot of sugar syrup and little flavor. I will look for another brand, in the meantime I have added small amounts of ground cloves and almond extract in my drinks to enhance the flavor. Very small additions, like there dashes of Bitters type. Less is better. For what Lee's is offering, I was disappointed.

Easy to mix, easy to drink!
Recommended by Jeff "Beachbum" Berry in his famous Polynesian cocktail recipe books, " Sippin' Safari: In Search of the Great "Lost" Tropical Drink Recipes... and the People Behind Them and Beachbum Berry's Grog Log , Fee Brothers may not be the most authentic falernum on the market, but it's certainly the most available! I've used it with wonderful results in Berry's recipes.
