Best brass cleaning media you can buy!
I've only been reloading for a little over a year now and started with a standard tumbler, then I wanted cleaner cases so I got an ultrasonic and then I was tumbling them after that (overkill I know!)Now I deprime my brass and then it goes in a tumblers tumbler with this media as well as a little dawn and lemishine. HOLY HECK the brass is beautiful, amazingly clean! inside, outside primer pockets. It's all perfect. I also like that it doesn't create any dust in the house as well. I cannot recommend this highly enough, buy it once and never need to replace it. It quite literally lasts forever.

Hands down the best way to clean brass
I have been loading for about 15 years, and I started out using a vibratory tumbler with corn cob and walnut with decent results, but It was time consuming, dusty and seemed to create more work with plugged up primer pockets and flash holes. I have always removed my primers with a decapping die and cleaning my brass prior to sizing the brass because I don't like putting dirty brass in a sizing die with a decapping pin. This lead me down the road of wet tumbling, but I'm cheap, so I built my own tumbler and filled up a 5 gallon bucked of that butter soft beach sand while on a trip to Florida, thinking that would substitute for stainless media. The brass came out clean as a whistle with a matte, bead blasted finish that was carbon and tarnish free inside and out with beautiful primer pockets. I quickly figured out that going cheap was pretty expensive after getting several cases stuck in my sizing die, a result of the rougher finish on the brass in my opinion.I then had the opportunity to use an ultrasonic cleaner with a solution of 2 parts water, one part vinegar, a bit of Lemishine and a few drops of dish soap at about 130 degrees F on a batch of very dirty .223 range brass. In 10 minutes this got all of the carbon and range debris out of the cases but the brass was still tarnished and dull. Seeking better results, I finally invested (I say invested because this stuff should last a very long time) in this tumbling media. Now, I cannot comment on the quality of this STM brand vs other brands out there, because I have not used the other brands, but this is the best deal I have found on any stainless media.I recently cleaned another batch of that dirty .223 range brass using the wet tumbler with cold water, a pinch of Lemishine and a drop or two of dish soap. After 3 hours of tumbling, the brass came out polished, inside and out. It wasn't just clean, it looked like I used a buffer on them, pretty much a mirror finish. While pretty brass is not necessarily a priority for me, I noticed a huge difference when sizing this brass - no stuck cases. I am amazed at how well this media cleaned my range brass, and I have no hesitation using it to clean my expensive Lapua cases. I believe I have finally figured out how to clean brass.

Works great!
Does exactly what it supposed to do. I basically use a depriming die to pop the prime. Then a use these in a Franklin tumbler and the brass sparkles and the primer pockets are spotless. Wax the brass, reshape, trim and you're good to go.

This problem is easy enough to check for either visually or with a ...
I've used this media for dozens of loads of brass, and it comes out looking brand-new every time. I don't think this media will ever lose its effectiveness. It's so problem-free that I take it for granted. The only problem I've had with it is that when tumbling .30 Carbine brass, a handful of cases will come out with two pins stuck together in them, one is lengthwise across the diameter of the brass, pinning the other against the wall of the brass. This problem is easy enough to check for either visually or with a rod magnet and is easily solved by giving the case a firm rap against the top of your work surface, which dislodges the pins. I'd hate to think what could happen if a pin got shot out of the barrel of my old M1 Carbine though!

They’re holding up to several uses with no tarnishing so the grade of stainless looks to be a good 300 series
It’s a bag of stainless steel pins. Overall the pins themselves are uniform in diameter and length. They’re not small enough to get caught in the flash holes of cases. They’re holding up to several uses with no tarnishing so the grade of stainless looks to be a good 300 series, not the cheap 400 series stuff. As for how well it cleans, well after a four hour tumble with some dish soap and lemon shine they come out looking as good as new.5lbs should be more than enough for any normal sized tumbler.

Awesome!
This works really well. Very little time needed to make cases shined like new. I feel like you definitely need a dehydrator to make it a good system.

this is the best thing that has happened for cleaning brass for reloading
this is the best thing that has happened for cleaning brass for reloading. this is also economical . my brass has never been so clean with so little work. I put 200 or 300 , 38 special cases in a 4 lb lortone tumbler, add stainless media to almost cover brass , add 5 or 6 drops of dawn , fill with water to cover media and brass, close it up and tumble for 2 or3 hrs. when done rinse brass in warm water ,separate media from brass . I dry my brass with a 1500 w paint stripper. the media can stay wet if your going to use it soon, but remember this stainless is magnetic, so it does have steel in it , it might rust . this media can be used over and over, unlike corn cobbs or walnut shells. these stainless pins get into the primer pockets and inside the case. I do recommend this media. lone star
