Works Perfectly for My Application
I ordered this ammonium chloride to use when mixing solutions for a ferroblend cyanotype process. I recently learned of a modified cyanotype process that uses a copper sulfate based developer for cyanotype prints. This produces a result that looks strikingly different from a traditional cyanotype. With the right mix of chemicals and the right development time, you end up with a print that has deep blue shadows and copper midtones/highlights. One of the chemicals needed for this process is ammonium chloride. I have a pretty well-stocked chemical shelf as I do a lot of alternative process photography, but ammonium chloride is a new one for me. I've found that all of the alternative processes I use work just fine with "standard" grade chemicals and it's very rare that I need to order a lab grade reagent. Based on the results I got, I have to say that this ammonium chloride works fine. I'm unaware of what other uses it may have, but if you need it for an alternative photographic process, this product from Alpha Chemicals should work for you without issues.

Why did it request flavor for my review criteria
This was a good product, but I am very upset that they requested me to rate it's flavor. I have not been eating chemicals for almost 6 months now, and hearing about the flavor not only brought flashbacks but reminded me of how good random chemicals taste. Thanks alot Amazon.

Amazing alternative to traditional Woodburning!
I read about Ammonium Chloride in one of my woodworking groups and how it works for a wood burnt look. I was skeptical about the process, but for the price of Ammonium Chloride I figured it was worth a shot. Making a stencil for the pattern was the most time consuming part of the process. You only have to use a small portion of the AC, along with a thickening agent. I used Xanthan gum. After applying the mixture to the wood, just run a heat gun over it. The more you run the heat gun, the darker it gets but be careful not to stay in one spot too long or the heat will actually darken the wood around the application. The type of wood and the thickness of the mixture will vary results. A thin mixture on a soft wood like pine will result in bleeding into the grain, it's not pretty. I thickened up the mixture a little more and used it on a harder wood (poplar), the result was as shown in my picture. No bleeding, and the lines came out crisp & clear. Considering you use a very small amount for each batch, this bag will last me 10 years. I have already told friends & family about this and one friend for sure is already ordering his own for his use. Great product for what I'm using it for. Last but not least, be sure to use safety equipment when using this chemical. Respirator, gloves and protective clothing are necessary when dealing with any chemicals, please protect yourselves.

Great for DIY solution for wood burning.
I used this for a craft I found on Pinterest and YouTube. You can mix this with thickener and have a solution for DIY wood burning with food thickener and heat gun. That's what I use it for, and it works great. Therefore, I can't comment on the other uses for it.

Works excellent for cycling aquariums!
By adding 1/4 tsp per day alongside the recommended dose of nitrifying bacteria to my 29-gallon aquarium, I achieved a remarkable cycling process in just 8 days, reaching approximately 4 ppm of ammonia. It's crucial to monitor ammonia levels diligently after each addition to prevent spikes and ensure a swift return to 0 ppm before subsequent dosing. This method proves to be a cost-effective alternative to Dr. Timms Ammonium Chloride Solution, offering efficient cycling without breaking the bank.

Not food grade but "animal feed grade" is good enough for me. Seemed pure but I don't have the qualification to judge of that. Proved to me that whoever decided to sell potassium chloride to people who needs to replace salt was a sadistic monsters when some alternatives actually taste salty. Also worked well for food burning. I now have a salt shaker with it and one with normal salt and constantly prank myself by accident by taking the wrong one

A previous review called this a ‘mystery powder’ and that their ammonia test came back completely clear after using this. I’m here to say this absolutely works as intended for fishless cycling. This was my reading after adding less than 1/8 teaspoon to 15 gallons.

Use this to remove copper flashing stains from concrete (1/5 NH4Cl + 4/5 chalk or calcium carbonate plus ammonia to make paste) and now the concrete looks like new!

Didn’t work as well as I hoped for. Will try the actual wood burning paste next time!

As other reviewers mentioned it is fantastic for fishless cycling an aquarium. I'm so pleased. But I have no one to share this huge bag with! I followed another reviewer's advice and dosed my 10 gallon with 1/16 tsp to achieve a reading of 2 ppm. You can increase or decrease accordingly. I'm writing this review to boost visibility. I hope it helps you figure out how much you need!
