Purchased it for my ICOM IC-756 PRO III to hook it up to my laptop. During the winter field day in Jan 2023, when we connected the radio and laptop, everything went perfectly. The computer detected the radio and vice a versa almost instantaneously. Since then, I have connected my radio to two different laptops using this cable without any issues. The instructions were pretty short and straightforward. The build quality is good.There are some cheap versions of the cables out there, which may have worked. But decided to go for Valley because of good reviews and recommendations from Hammers on YouTube.

I'm using the Valley Enterprises FTDI USB/Serial adapter cable to tune frequencies on my ICOM IC-735 Amateur HF Radio. The FTDI driver download was simple and the cable adapter works fine on my IC-735 in conjunction with the Ham Radio Deluxe Software Package and my old XP/SP2 Laptop. The FTDI device is running on port 5 at 1200 baud with an CI-V address of 04.The IC-735 radio had become unusable due to the failure of an irreplaceable optical tuner which was used to set operating frequencies on the radio. The FTDI adapter is functioning as a "work-around" to that problem and has restored a really desirable radio back into full service.The only actual problem I had using the FTDI cable was due to the 3/8th inch CI-V serial interface jack on the 1980's era radio. The jack had a bit of corrosion on the "tip conductor" which which blocked communication between the Computer/FTDI combo and the Radio. This was cured by a shot of De-Ox spray on the radio jack.The cable works fine, was easy to implement and has restored my ICOM IC-735 HF Transceiver back to service.

I have an expensive West Mountain Radio RIGblaster Advantage that controls the radio and has a sound card to support the new digital modes like FT8. I had an issue where the RIGblaster would stop communicating with the radio, sometimes leaving it locked in transmitting mode. I believe it's an issue with their "port splitting" application that creates a virtual port for controlling the radio.I decided to get a separate data control cable to run my Icom IC-7000. On Windows 10, I downloaded the drivers and installed the cable. It was assigned COM port 28, so I updated my rig controlling software settings and turned on my radio. The cable has two communication LEDs on the shell that plugs into the USB port on my laptop. They lit up and my radio control software connected with no problems. I spent the day operating on FT8 on 20m and it never crashed or hiccuped. Very pleased with this cable and is worth the money. Highly recommended if you run Icom equipment with a CI-V port.

Plug and play for Windows 10 and above. Windows will load proper driver for the device. Works with SDR Console, SDR Uno, OmniRig, FLRig (I tried all). Product has two small LEDs at the USB plug end which show transmit/receive data transfer. Nice touch. Wonderful product. 5 stars!

Replaced a $55 product that had a useful long life and broken solder pads. My Icom synced up to Fldigi right away. Wish I bought one months ago. Drivers loaded automatically in Windows 10. Wish i had another foot or two of cable so i would not need a USB extender.

Yes it works. It's not quite as long as I thought it would be, but it reached my desktop CPU which is on my floor. My radio sits about two feet above it on my desk. It just reached. I have an Icom ic7000 and was looking for a cable to connect it to my computer for running Ham Radio Deluxe. The cable arrived promptly and when I connected it all I had to do was follow the instructions. The driver is on the products website. After downloading it and unzipping the driver I was able to install it without incident. Thanks for a great cable, fast shipping a pretty good price. I purchased a similar low cost item like this that did not work and I wasn’t able to download drivers for. I should have spent the extra $12 to buy this one to begin with. Works as promised!

It is what is needed to control these radios from a laptop. Nothing exceptional but well constructed and it met my expectations.
