Works like a champ
Works like a champ. The chrome plating came off within a few dozen drilled holes, but even after a thousand holes, it's been perfect.

Could be just a little bit better.
A good doweling tool for making dowel hole right where you want them.. I rated it only 4 stars due to 2 points; 1) the nickel plating started to flake off as soon as I took it out of the box; 2) the little adjustment knobs will go either too tight or will loosen when using the tool. The company can fix this problem by recessing the hex head bolt into the bar slightly, enough to stop the bolt from spinning as you tighten the knob. And just do away with the plating and powder paint the bars. Purchase the 3/8 for thicker material, and will purchase the 1/4 in the future.

I've been extremely disappointed with all of them
Over the years I've owned several inexpensive dowel jigs, some I bought at the big box stores, one at Rockler. I've been extremely disappointed with all of them. It seemed like the main issue was sloppy drill bit guide holes or in the case of the Rockler jig, sloppy guide holes and acrylic plastic that flexed way to easy when clamped. Nothing ever lined up right and at best always took lots of sanding to make things flush. No matter how hard I tried to make things line up, they rarely did. Not too long ago I stumbled onto the dowel max jig. The reviews were great and it seemed like it may actually be possible to make a good dowel joint. Long story short, I stumbled onto the Jessem jig also. I was close to buying it since it was way less expensive then the Dowel Max. As I was about to order the Jessem, I came across the Joint Genie. It looked fairly easy to use and seemed like it could do things the other two couldn't do or do as easy. With some apprehension I decided to get the Joint Genie. As other reviews have stated, once you get it in your hand and use it once, it becomes really easy to use. Some have have said that all the tabs would confuse them or the screws would just be annoying but I think they work very well. I have used it to attach table aprons to the legs and on bench stretchers were normally I would use a mortise and tenon with stellar results. I see many uses for this jig. For those of you who have had the experience I have had with inexpensive dowel jigs and are reluctant to try any more, the Joint Genie is in a different league, it works flawlessly. My joints are perfectly flush or end up exactly where they are supposed to be. This will be invaluable where joints don't need a mortise and tenon or if the customer doesn't care. In fact, making multiple rows of dowels is for all intensive purposes just about as strong as a mortise and tenon. Buy the Joint Genie, I doubt you will be disappointed! Im glad I got the Craftsman!

This thing is so good.
Never used dowels beforeBought it, and started to make some stuff. Now so proud of themThought it was expensive at first. But now think is it worth 192, "Yes" with stuff I have, and what I could make whenever I wantWhat make them good in my opinion.(1) Simple - Even I can figure out. I don't play around with configuration(2) Precise - makes a 6 dowel joint (3-3) very strong, especially with those 90 degree cuts. Wuu(3) Drill bit, they don't tell you. But their drill bit in the box is like world class and go so nicely with Genie. (after some wearing into from new) Cut is 'effortless' and last forever. Which is important. If you don't own your own dedicated bits. I suggest everyone to buy 3 of their bits. For me it feels like 60 dollarBecause the last thing you want, when you think you have everything ready to go, is drill bit that don't drill you holes afters holes when each hole take you 5 sec.Any hole more than 5 sec is just too stressfulI don't use clamp with Genie.
